We all have baggage that we carry. Peter's dealing with the Centurion in Acts 10 reveals that he had some baggage that God needed to deal with in the midst of the spread of the gospel message and growth of the early church. What baggage are we carrying that God is trying to address?

Jesus radically engages with those who come to arrest him in the Garden of Gethsemane. His disciple, Peter, draws his sword to defend Jesus, but Jesus rebukes him saying, "Put your sword away." We can become misguided, like Peter, believing that we need to defend Jesus, but the gospel invites us to engage through peace.

Religious people can easily be consumed by conspiracy and speculation. This is not a new problem, but an ancient one, that we continue to wrestle today. Conspiracy and speculation surround even the cross and the place of the Skull where Jesus was crucified. But focusing on such things yields a life of poverty, because the Cross of Christ is about self-less love not endless speculation.

Our lifeless as followers of Jesus are often plagued by moments of fail and denial. But God can turn out moments of denial into moments of revival.

In the Christmas story we discover The Holy Spirit makes the impossible possible; He exalts the humble and lowly; and works in the person surrendered to God's will.

Paul gives us the formula for "Great Gain" in 1 Timothy 6; Godliness + Contentment = Great Gain. If contentment is part of our walk with God, how do we experience it. Being a people of gratitude requires of us an attitude of contentment and satisfaction regardless our circumstances because in Christ we have more than we could ever need. Contentment is the antidote to the disease of more.

We rarely stop to reflect on what we're thankful for. Rather, often, we think about what has gone wrong, what is going wrong and what might go wrong. If we want to be a people marked by thankfulness then gratitude starts with developing habits of thankfulness.

We want to be known for having an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; and a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. If we want to be a people of gratitude then the starting place is experiencing God's grace.
