The Presidential Radio Address

History EN ↓ 1287 episodes

All of the Presidents' Weekly Addresses. From FDR's fireside chats to Reagan's "weekly radio address," to Biden's "weekly conversations." Enjoy this daily bite-sized piece of American history, from 1933 to today. A variety of different names, but all part of the same tradition of personal weekly messages from our Presidents to their citizens. Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama gave these almost every week, while Roosevelt, Bush Sr., Trump, and Biden were more sporadic, but they are all here. (Presidents from FDR to Reagan didn't give these addresses.) Enjoy, and have fun learning!

Franklin Roosevelt, 1933-10-10 (Fireside Chat #4) 04.01.2023

This address was recorded, but as far as I could tell, only a very abridged version of it. Since the text of the complete speech survives, I've filled in the missing parts. On the Currency Situation

This address was never recorded, but we do have the transcript, so I recorded it myself. On the Purposes and Foundations of the Recovery Program.

The first one. He gave these sporadically, from 1933 to 1944. This fireside chat is on the banking crisis, given March 12, 1933.
