The statistics for cancer for dogs is at an all time high and only getting worse. One thing we know is that sugar feeds cancer ... and starches break down into sugar. Diet is the foundation of health and this has never been truer than when a dog faces dis-ease.  Katie with The Bones & Co. joins the podcast today to discuss what a ketogenic diet is for dogs, why you would choose it, and how bes...

RECAP: IBD in Cats with The Two Crazy Cat Ladies My cat Machida was diagnosed with IBD this year and he's been doing really well ... until the day I published this episode.... so it's more timely than ever. He's been on the IBD kit from 2CCL and I ran out of some of it - totally my fault for not ordering in time. Thankfully I have everything restocked and will resume these incredibl...

I've waited quite a while to invite Jaron Lukas from Yummwoof on the podcast because even though I like having options for you, I prefer to only bring you the best options. Yummwoof just launced a new air-dried dog food that is free of synthetics!  It is still my preference to hydrate any dried food, but this could be an option to keep on hand for "what if" Jaron and I discuss dog f...

Earlier this year, we let you know about a concerning trend that pet owners have been reporting: Sick and deceased pets, assumed to be related to pet food, mostly Purina. At the time, most people blew it off and called these pet parents liars, said that it was all "fake news" Now, Susan Thixton from Truth About Pet Food has released the data obtained through a FOIA request. The pet paren...

Dr. Jeff Feinman has a bit of a different approach to our furry friend's well being. He is a holistic veterinarian who still holds a private practice but he spends as much time online educating pet parents, alongside colleagues, in his community, Holistic Actions! The paradigm shift that Dr. Jeff is proposing is an often over-looked, but very impactful, piece of the puzzle. Listen to today&ap...

Dr. Katie Woodley is an integrative veterinarian and the founder of The Natural Pet Doctor. She has such a calm way of explaining even the most complex of topics so today we will be revisiting her explanation of how not to give up on our pets.  That may seem like such a simple topic, a simple statement, but to put what that actually means into words - with examples - is something I don't thin...

She is now a pet health coach and she leads fresh pet food manufacturers through Next Generation Pet Food manufacturers Association, the only AAFCO seat for fresh foods.  Her career and her passion are unrivaled and this conversation is one you don't...

There's a mass buyout that's been happening in veterinary medicine by giant conglomerates. You've probably noticed since 25% of primary care vets are now corporate owned and 75% of specialty and emergency vets are corporate owned.  There's really no upside for anyone but the people at the top of the pyramid of these conglomerates.  So, what can you do about it? Isabel and I dis...

Chances are that you've had some experience with at least one of your pets undergoing anesthesia. If you haven't, consider yourself lucky!  Even though procedures that require anesthesia are common, that doesn't mean that we should ignore the risks. Every time your pet needs an anesthetic procedure, your vet should be discussing the risks and benefits so that you can make an educate...

We are all focused on the gut these days ... and rightfully so!  If we weren't all (this includes our four legged friends) eating such crappy diets, we may still be blissfully ignorant to the fact that 70% of the immune system is in the gut. We may also not have the handy term "leaky gut" If you think you've done it all and still aren't seeing the results you want, Dr. Kai...

I'm not a supplement person generally speaking. By that I mean that I want to work with food therapy first and then see if supplements are necessary. Even then, I'm incredibly picky about the supplements I use and recommend. And that's not without good reason. The supplement market is overrun and can be overwhelming. To be honest, I've known about the WinPro brand for years and...
