This week we welcome back Selene Yeager to the show to check in. We talk about her podcast "Hit Play, Not Pause," as well as her work with Feisty Media, and the new book she co-wrote with her brother, Kirk Yeager, who is the FBI's top bomb scientist.

John talks to one of the U.K.'s foremost fitters of pros and freds alike. He lends considerable wisdom, not just about fit, but what it means to work hard in cycling.

John talks finding balance, especially how the bike helps us find balance and how finding balance changed for many of us thanks to the pandemic. Patrick takes on a listener question about learning to be a better descender.

This week John takes on a number of small issues, mostly style points and asks Patrick's opinion to see who has the more correct perspective. Patrick relates the many lessons cycling taught readers who responded to his question on social media.

John discusses the YouTube channel Lee Likes Bikes, whose creator does a fine job on breaking down mountain biking skills. Patrick suggests that cycling is the perfect sport.

John reaches into the bucket of bike categories and pulls out all-road for some closer examination. Patrick explains regenerative braking in eBikes and lets you know whether you want it or not. That plus some new Paceline picks rounds out this week's show.

This week John introduces Patrick to a new phrase: Bruise Life. Contemplating Bruise Life means asking how far you're willing to go. Patrick takes on reader/listener responses to the question: What are your rescue foods once you've bonked?

This week John takes a look at Redbull's decision to pull the plug on all women's freeride competition as well as questionable riding by Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic at the recently completed Vuelta a Espana. While on a recent ride, Patrick's companions started talking post-ride foods and that resulted in a survey of fellow riders and their faves.

After a few technical hurdles, including a missing laptop, John and Patrick are back to talk about attention deficit and how that variety of focus feeds cycling and versa the vice. Patrick takes on the sweet spot in the cyclist's learning curve and how sticking with cycling for so long has imparted lessons for him that may not have been easy to learn otherwise.

This week John takes on product names. The good, the bad, the ridiculous. He and Patrick may expose a foible or two of their own. Patrick examines a recent NY Times piece about kids, anxiety and how freedom may be the solution.

Last weekend the MADE custom frame builder show was held in Portland, Ore. John and Patrick spend the show talking about what they saw, who impressed them, what the scene was like and the why behind buying a custom frame.

This week Robot takes on the ideas of durability and sustainability. Patrick looks at how autonomous cars are going to change not just cycling, but society.

John takes on the subject of innovation. New features are meant to make bikes better, but there have been so many tiny and incremental improvements that sometimes we can be rather cynical about just what the gains are. And yet, we have seen real gains over the years. Patrick discusses the difference between bike touring and bikepacking.

This week John takes on the issue of road users on things that are not cars. Not limited to e-bikes, there is a degree of education and cooperation that seems needed in our current time. Patrick, just back from a trip to the South, takes on riding in the heat.

We were having a real hard time coming up with a topic this week, because Robot’s dog died on Sunday, and it’s all he can think about. Django was among the best boys ever. He was quick with a joke. He smelled awful, and if you knew him, you loved him. He’s a real loss for the universe. So we’re going to talk about that, because it’s what we’re going to talk about.

Now that the men's Tour de France is over, we're into the women's Tour de France. And how great is that? We have a women's Tour de France again! Patrick talks about ill-advised phrases, parenting and the split of labor between a mom and a dad and how that has played out in his life.

This week John takes on the demise of the e-bike brand Vanmoof and his experience with them, which is emblematic of why they failed. Patrick talks aphorisms, those pithy truths, and the ones he lives by in cycling.

John insists he's not an economist, but he talks about the economy as it affects the bike industry. After several years of not enough supply to meet demand, it seems that there is more supply than demand. Patrick explores what it means to use the bike to mourn someone's passing.
