On the La Liga portion of the pod, we go over the much anticipated Real Sociedad and Villareal matchup from this past weekend, why Atleti are genuine favorites for the title, and why Real Madrid could see a coaching change sooner rather than later (BTW, Pochettino is still free).

This week, we decided to focus a bit more on Arsenal and Tottenham given their polarizing performances at the weekend and the NLD coming up this weekend. It may or may not have been a mistake to bring on two delusional guests to share their POV on Arsenal and Spurs, respectively, but you decide.

Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to underwhelm against good opposition this past weekend in La Liga, so, of course, we have to give them a ton of flack. Also, not so quietly, Real Sociedad are on a tear at the top of La Liga. Disclaimer: We started recording this right after learning the news that Diego Maradona has passed away. We spend the first few minutes talking about the legend himself.

For any Spurs fans listening to this, please don't be incessantly pushing the narrative that Spurs are going to win the league. Yes, there's a chance, but let's take it easy. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool continue their strong form while Arsenal need to sort it out. Oh, we don't even know what to think of Manchester United at this point.

We're celebrating the fact that there are no more international breaks with a little preview of the Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona game on Saturday evening as well as City vs Spurs on Saturday afternoon. In a normal world (that just feels funny to type at this point), maybe Real Madrid or Barcelona would be top of the table in La Liga at this point, but that is pretty far from the truth. Real Sociedad and Villarreal continue to impress, while Real Madrid stutter near the top and Barcelona stay relatively inconsistent.

We've gone back and forth in the last few weeks about who could challenge Liverpool for the title and we may be coming to a consensus. Also, Southampton and Aston Villa continue to impress while Leeds and Arsenal...well, not so much.

Rheon and I give up. We have no idea who's going to win the Premier League this season. The season is back to being drunk.

Between an El Clasico loss, the sacking of Bartomeu, and a dominant performance away at Juventus, it's been a WEEK for Barcelona fans. Real Madrid fans look away in horror after another poor result in the Champions League this week while Atleti is probably feeling pretty good about themselves right about now. After relatively calm weekend in the Premier League, for two teams it was almost...too calm. The most boring game in Europe combined with a less than outlandish array of results proved to be shockingly...sobering.

With a weekend filled with drama, shock results, and more red-card controversy, you'd think we'd name this podcast something else. But, NOPE. Rheon has a new theory. Elyas continually craps all over United's hopes and dreams. Spurs did a (good) thing. Oh, and Liverpool just...I don't even know. We go over ALL of that this week.

So, the title says it all, but that isn't to say that the ~narratives~ were not in full swing this weekend. Barça putting up an impressive first half performance against Villarreal, Atleti showing that they are now capable of actually scoring goals, and Real Madrid struggling to kick into 5th gear - we recap it all.

Liverpool showed this weekend why they won the league last season ahead of Manchester City, but honestly that wasn't even the biggest storyline. More handball (not VAR, we should note) controversy was the big debate in England this week and we cover it all on this week's podcast for the Premier League.
