Episode 58 - Die Tote Stadt: Forbidden Video 17.07.2021

This week, Anna and Krista discuss some exciting things! A big move, the last week of Met streams, a DVD release and the tale of a video that they shouldn't have seen but did. Bonus: you get some Hollywood history!

Ep. 57 - Faust/La Damnation de Faust: A Tale of Two Satans 11.07.2021

Join Anna and Krista as they celebrate Jonas Kaufmann's birthday on this week's episode! As an extra treat, they'll drop some exciting news about Tristan and an opera recording next spring!

Ep. 56 - Fedora: Not Just a Hat 03.07.2021

This week's opera is Fedora by GIORDANO (not Cilea as was stated last week, oops), and the ladies rave about Mirella Freni while continuing to shit on Placido "Thunder Twonk" Domingo. Bonus content: Krista's first impressions on Munich's Tristan und Isolde!

Ep. 55 - Doctor Atomic: O Mighty and Everlasting Bomb 26.06.2021

Things get serious in this week's episode with John Adams' Doctor Atomic. He's not the first American composer the ladies have discussed (that would be Philip Glass), but he's one of the more direct and controversial ones. Heads up: there might not be much to laugh about with this opera.

Ep. 54 - Les Pêcheurs de Perles: Hos Before Bros 19.06.2021

The ladies are back on their bullshit with this week's review of Bizet's Les Pêcheurs de Perles, aka The Pearl Fishers. It's not as well-known as its sibling Carmen, but it's just as good. Of course, Anna and Krista will talk about Shirtless Mariusz Kwiecien and the one aria that Jonas Kaufmann has never sung.

Ep. 53 - The Big-Ass Anniversary Show 13.06.2021

On June 13, 2020, two novice opera fans began a journey filled with lolz, snark and inappropriate comments about tenors. Join Anna and Krista as they celebrate the first anniversary of the podcast with song, Kaffee and Küchen.

Ep. 52 - Roberto Devereux: OH LAWD LIZZIE GOIN 05.06.2021

Donizetti's Maria Stuarda is the focus of this week's episode. The third installment of the Tudor Trash Fest brings more drama, more historical gripes and the story of how it was a totally different opera at one point.

Ep. 50 - Anna Bolena: OH LAWD ANNA ANGY 22.05.2021

The Donizetti Tudor Trash Fest continues this week with Anna Bolena. Who wants more history? The ladies serve that up with a hefty dollop of mad scene!

Ep. 48 - La Traviata: Just Die Already 08.05.2021

You think Farter has the longest death scene? Think again! Anna and Krista present Verdi's La Traviata, and they submit for your approval the actual time it took for Violetta to die in the final act. The ladies will also talk about whether this opera can stand the test of modernization.

Ep. 47 - Akhnaten: Here Comes the Sun 01.05.2021

Ep. 45 - Le Comte Ory: The Lying Nun 17.04.2021

Anna and Krista visit the land of bel canto in this episode, with a look at Rossini's Le Comte Ory. It's an opera with a boring origin, but the royal assbucket at the center of the story stirs up some real shit to go with his trash self.

Ep. 44 - Rusalka: The Little Mermaid of Death 10.04.2021

For a switch, the ladies cover a Czech opera this week: Antonin Dvorak's Rusalka. What's a rusalka? Where did this story come from? How do Renee Fleming and the Incredible Hulk tie into this? What died on Piotr Beczala's face? Listen and find out!
