A journalist begins his report with exposition about what has happened to Helen Kimble and tells the audience that they had been at a fundraiser that evening. Minute three begins with a Chicago police van drivng down a street and stopping at what looks like a crime scene. Inside the apartment, photos are being taken (shown in negative) of the deceased woman. Police detectives come down the stairs and hand a coat to a distraught Richard Kimble, who has blood on his clothes and neck. He puts the coat on and walks away. No one has spoken.
