In this message, we’re moving into the second part of Jesus’ answer to the question, “What’s the most important commandment?” Jesus responds that we are to “love our neighbor as ourselves.” But how do we do this in a world where “love” can be hard to define? What do we do when our definitions of love conflict or contradict each other? What steps can we take to become people of love?

As we continue our study in the book of Hebrews, we’ll be wrapping up chapter 3 and talking about our response to hearing God. After revisiting some Old Testament examples where God’s people rebelled, we’ll explore some ways we can spot unbelief in our own lives and counter our tendency toward hardness of heart.

We’ll continue our Hebrews series in this message with a study of chapter 3. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we share in “a heavenly calling.” But our response to that calling, as we hear the voice of God, is actually the greatest indicator that we are indeed called.

We’ll be in Chapter 2 where we will discover how our merciful and faithful high priest has set us free to live a life of faith. We can choose to step out of fear and stand on the foundation Christ laid by his suffering and death. Lead by the captain of our salvation, we rely on the same source which gave Jesus the strength to lay down his life and who stands today in glory with us.

We’re continuing our series this week in the book of Hebrews with an introduction to chapter two. In light of who Jesus is and what he’s done, the author now warns his readers to “pay much closer attention” so we don’t “drift” or “neglect such a great salvation.” We’ll talk about the nature of this great salvation and some of the common reasons we tend to “drift” in our Christian life.
