The Kill Power Hour

Tucker starts off our top 3's with a solid Spielberg blockbuster featuring realistic dinosaurs and the dumbest children on the silver screen. Even though we pick apart the plot holes in the film, we all agree it's a thoroughly entertaining movie. Tyler pitches an alternative to Sea World (a "whale farm") to Eric's delight.

More commonly known as "the only good Rambo movie", First Blood continues Tyler's rare streak of picking great movies. It's a solid action flick and Tucker & Tyler wax poetic about their exceptionally limited movie selection as kids while Eric is blown away by how badly John Rambo needs therapy and how hilariously anti-police this movie seems.

Tyler and Tucker are completely shocked that Eric would pick another artsy foreign film for his top-ten list, but at least this one has a boat being dragged over a mountain--literally. The boys have clearly been spending way too much time at Dipstick's Pickle Club as this week's conversation is all over the map. Eric & Tyler share their hatred of the amnesia movie genre while Tucker tries to defend his choice because...Madonna. We all agree that it's his "Rhinestone" of the season.

Tyler surprises us all and actually picks a good film for the podcast. The gang waxes poetic about how the Coen brothers used the best parts of the American South, character actors and the Odyssey. Eric reveals his own private top-3 list which Tucker attempts to make on the fly with hilarious results--listen to this one 'til the end.

Eric gets arty with his 5th favorite movie of all-time, this cinema vérité dating memoir by Ross McElwee.  Tucker and Tyler surprisingly don't hate it but don't like it either, and Eric gets to teach them both a very challenging bedroom move.

Tucker picks a horned-up and bizarre comedy with the 80's biggest stars operating at about 50% of their power. We're all equally confused by the plot, but luckily there are enough dick jokes and Jack Nicholson-isms to keep us engaged.

Sex(ism) sells and Tyler is fully sold on his 6th favorite movie of all time--a James Bond classic. Eric finally realizes where Austin Powers got all of its references from and Tucker tries to piece together his notes between falling asleep and folding laundry. Everyone is impressed by the watermelon budget.

Wes Anderson's early work holds a special place in Eric's heart & Rushmore brings together a solid cast (the return of Bill Murray!) with an amazing soundtrack. Tucker largely agrees but Tyler thinks Anderson peaks later in his career. Fortunately, Tyler's opinions no longer matter after making us watch Rhinestone--enjoy!

From the depths of a pizza binge in 2009, Tucker discovered this series of whodunnit films from the 1930's that apparently made a big enough impression on him to include one on his top ten list. If you can get past the fact that everyone talks like a Looney Tunes gangster, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic performance by Jimmy Stewart of someone losing their mind. It's only #7 on Tyler's top ten list, but Rhinestone could easily be the #1 worst movie made in the 80's--so much so that the two stars, Sylvester Stallone and Dolly Parton, are loath to acknowledge it. But the Kill Power crew manages to turn these hog nuggets into gold and even come up with a much better ending to the movie. Stallone: take note!

Robert Redford & Dustin Hoffman share the screen in this procedural film about the breaking of the Watergate scandal. Eric fans out over his 7th favorite movie while he struggles to make it seem interesting to Tyler, who has never read a newspaper in his life, and Tucker, who seems more interested in lapels than the actual plot.

Only Tim Burton would star one of the most attractive characters of all time against one of the most disgusting, and only Tucker would pick that as his 7th favorite movie of all time. In addition to Catwoman and the Penguin, we cover pretty much every aspect of this early superhero movie, in all of its Cobblepot glory. Meow.

Tyler's 8th favorite movie of all time is a little-known kung-fu prequel to American Gladiators. We go through every single chamber in painstaking detail, so get ready and strap on your bells as we discuss The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.

This action-packed Bruckheimer production features an all-star cast along with some of the worst hair and southern accents to ever grace the silver screen. Eric's 8th favorite film of all time is riddled with plot holes, but you're really just supposed to focus on the explosions and jokes. Don't forget to put the bunny back in the box.

Tucker walks us through his 8th favorite movie of all time, but Tyler and Eric find the "movie" label unconvincing. Steve McQueen must have been channeling the spirit of a HP LaserJet printer because this movie is JAMMING.

We all had to take a half-day at work in order to watch Tyler's 9th favorite movie of all time, the 4+ hour epic Cleopatra . Tyler is blown away by the sets and extras while Tucker and Eric focus more on Elizabeth Taylor's costumes. Send in another turtle!

We collectively slog through the beautiful & nap-inducing Stalker, the 1979 slow burn by Andrey Tarkovsky, which happens to be Eric’s 9th favorite film of all time. Eric tries his best to argue that this is important and artistic film, but Tucker & Tyler get hung up on the lack of pizza and the English language, respectively.
