The Joe Jackson Interviews

I previously posted parts of this as podcasts, but after some listeners pointed out that Cillian rarely is as open during interviews, particularly when it comes to his private life and deepest feelings, I decided to post the full exchange. 

I was a fan of Dory Previn, who became her close friend and the person she asked to chronicle her life and songs. We never finished that work, but I have 20 hours of audio and some video and feel duty-bound to spread the word about Dory, one of the most groundbreaking singer-songwriters in rock .

When I was a kid I stole from a local cinema a picture of Elvis and Nancy in Speedway. Interviewing her was a delight. We shared similar views about Elvis. 

Talking with Joan Baez was a total joy for me. I hope fellow fans share this joy. Repost from 2021

When I was recording this cassette I knew I was capturing on tape contemporary Irish history. Thirty-one years later the tape is even more significant historically. 

I had a bit of fun arguing against the universally accepted lie that Doris Day had no sex appeal. I also did a documentary about her and know the real story!

Yesterday, January 19th 2024, I was talking to a guy working in my local Spar shop about Clapton, who was on the radio at the time. He knew Clapton's son had died, which is what I talked with Clapton about, but he hadn't heard about his racist comments during a gig. And he laughed when I said, "Some fans used to say, 'Clapton is God.' 

I'm reposting this because it will be part of a film I plan to make. I became an interviewer to meet my music heroes. Jerry Lee is one I wish I'd never met.
