The Book of Sirach written 200 BCE presenta ethical teachings. Psalm 50 says to the upright I will show the saving power of God.

Mary is at the heart of the Church, the promise of Salvation from the moment Adam gives away the authority given to him by God.

In the Acts of the Apostles, we see the fire if God’s love enkindled in the Cenacle! 3000 are baptized. We sing with Psalm 104 Lord send out your spirit and renew the face of the earth. There are different gifts, but anyone who proclaims Jesus does so moved by the Holy Spirit. Let Jesus’ peace be with us.

Paul is, in prison, in Rome, for 2 years giving testimony and building the Kingdom restrained and alone.

Paul before King Agrippa knows his days are counted. Jesus about to leave the Apostles asks Peter to feed His lambs. We have the same mission and invitation.

Accused Paul gives witness in Jerusalem, and is almost torn to pieces. Jesus appears to him in prison and gives him courage. Psalm 16 is such a prayer of hope and strength. Jesus prays for us and for Paul in John 17, for all those who believe in Him through others’ words.

In the farewell speeches of Jesus and Paul, we hear the concern for us, the desire to consecrate us to the truth.

The hour has come for Paul to return Jerusalem knowing he will not see the disciples in Ephesus again. jesus also knows the hour has come. And Jesus intercedes for us. We can sing with Psalm 68 with the Kingdoms of the earth to our God

Paul lays hands on disciples from Ephesus and the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Let us do the same. With Psalm 68 we learn to sing to God and the enemies are scattered. Loneliness is an enemy. Singing scatters the feelings of loneliness. Jesus says he is never alone, because the father is with him. Let us take courage, Jesus has conquered the world. And He is with us

Starting in 1 Peter:15 , 120 brothers and sisters gather to select an Apostle to replace Judas. Matthias is chosen. Joseph is not. Psalm 113 says the Lord will give me a seat with the leaders of His people. Jesus asks in John 15:9 again to remain in his love. That is so important when we experience rejection like Joseph did.

Matthias is chosen by casting lots. One is chosen, another is not. Jesus invites us in John 15:9, to remain in his love

Acts 17 Paul in Athens finds the shrine to the Unknown God and uses it to open the door yo conversing about God with the Athenians. They listen to a point but then they need time to process. Jesus also in John 16:20 says He has more to tell the Apostles but realizes they cannot bear it now. Waiting for the right time can be hard for us. There is a time for everything under the sun.

Acts 16: 22- 34 tells the story of the salvation of the jailer who witnesses an earthquake that opens the doors to the jail where Paul and Silas had been thrown into after being beaten by the magistrates and the crowd of Philippi. Instead of killing himself as he intended watching the jail had been open while he slept, he receives an act of mercy by Paul who shouts they have not left the jail. In...

Acts 16: 11-15 - Paul meets Lydia outside of the city. Psalm 149 says The Lord delights in his people. And the gospel reading John 15:26 remind us that Jesus will send us the Spirit of truth so that we may mot fall away.. in the island of Molokai Father Damien builds up a community of lepers and filled with love he tells them about Jesus’ love in words.

Acts 10:25- Cornelius wants to pay homage to Peter. Peter stops him and reminds those listening that God shows no partiality but accepts all who act uprightly. Psalm 98 refrain is The Lord has revealed to the nations His saving power. 1 John 4: 7-10 God loves. Love is in God. God is love. We only know God when we love. So Jesus reminds us in John 15: 9 to remain in His Love

Paul is persecuted and still speaks boldly in the name of Jesus. He can do that only because he is deeply rooted in the vine that is Jesus. With Psalm 22, we praise our Lord in the assembly of the people. God is greater than out hearts and knows everything.
