First hard frost means all the plants know it's time to go dormant. The last mow for lawns and fall fertilizer application is now. Lower your mower since this is the also the shortest cut of the year - somewhere between 2 - 4 inches (5-10cm). Callers are putting away Dahlias, sticking Amaryllis into the dark, and wondering about overwintering fig trees.

Can mini roses survive outside overwinter? Can Hosta plants survive in pots? And how come my Plum tree never has any plums?
