This week, more coverage from the Kennedy Center's Nordic Cool festival. We've got music and conversation with Eivor, who is arguably the most famous singer from the Faroe Islands. We'll also hear from  Guðrun Rógvadóttir about the founding of Faroese knitwear company Gudrun & Gudrun.

We’ll talk about the upcoming Cool Nordic festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and about what Faroese artists are participating.   Then we’ll spend a few chilly moments in Norðtoftir, a village that’s almost invisible to many Faroese people.

This week, we talk to James Proctor. He wrote the Bradt travel guide to the Faroe Islands, the only travel guide dedicated to the Faroe Islands. Proctor was recently in the Faroes to do research for the 3rd edition of the guide. He speaks to us about his long history with the Faroes, and the changes he's seen in the country after 20 years. After that, we'll visit a village where time stands still....

This week we talk to musician/writer/director Heidrik about his music, films, and what it means to be Faroese. We'll also listen to his song "Blonde." Then we'll visit and church that's next to a fish processing factory (and yes, we'll tie all that together).

We'll talk to the organizers of the event, then run through town looking for the march, then find ourselves surrounded by thousands of marchers in what turned out to be the largest gay pride event in Faroese history. This podcast is not to be missed.
