The FAMILY? Cast: Food And Music Is Life Yes? with Chef Josh K
Cheers! Chef JK here. I used to sing in Dogwood (the punk rock group) now I make music as Saint Didacus. This is The Punk Chef Podcast! I am a professional chef who does food and beverage pairings with all types of music (mostly punk/hardcore/metal, and I’m teaching my 3 kids to do the same! Why is music so important to the human existence? You know how food works, but do you know how to pair music with it? Do you cook or clean without music playing? Don’t do that. Let me help you find the right soundtrack for that. #punkchefpairings #foodandmusicislifeyes #SRRSS

13. Josh Hagquist: The Beautiful Mistake, Dogwood, Ember, Stone Brewing Co, Stanger Kings, Really Amateur Photographer. 05.04.2021 1:25:35
This episode is overflowing with Josh power. Josh to the Nth degree. Need I say more? Yes: I have known Josh H since High School. Yes he started Dogwood — before I was around! Yes: he manages Stone Brewing. Yes: he has done, and still does a lot! I didn’t even list all of the bands he has played in. He is an adventure seeker. A truth teller. A humble homie. I don’t even think we talked about hi...
12. Chad Pearson: The Militia Group, P is for Panda, Refuge Coffee Co, Reach Records, Rivals Group, HMLYN Records 29.03.2021 1:43:20
Chad. Chadical. Chadder Cheese. Chaddyshack. I could go on forever. But I shan't. As you can tell by the episode title, we have a lot to talk about! Chad Pearson was the booking agent for Dogwood , and a bunch of our friends on Tooth and Nail Records back in the day. He has started and worked at many record labels, non-profit organizations, and is now working for Riva...
11. Mike Wright: Ironside. Fighting Jacks. Saint Didacus. Google Kitchen. Catering Chef. Dog Dad. 22.03.2021 1:39:24
In this episode, Mike refuses to admit that he eats Fritos! But really, he doesn't. Mike and I have known each other since the 1900's when both of our bands were just wee lads. His band (Freeto Boat - look them up if you are adventurous!) metamorphosed to become Fighting Jacks, signed to Tooth and Nail records, and went on a tour or two with my band Dogwood. I won't give aw...
10. Rob and Nat James Rufus: Blacklist Royals, The Bad Signs, Paper and Plastick Records, Authoring Books, Being Twins. 16.03.2021 1:16:30
This week's episode is a two-fer! Maybe even more than a two-fer, because you see, I spoke to Rob and Nat in the same room at the same time, they are twins, in more than one band at a time, and Rob is just way too humble about being an award winning book author and movie pilot writer... More on that in the show. These two rad guys came out of West Virginia to settle into the East Nashv...
9. Troy Johnson: San Diego Native! Writer, TV Host, Storyteller, Eater of Foods... 12.03.2021 1:00:17
IT'S BONUS TIME! It's just fun to keep releasing these conversations, ya know? I got to chat with Troy this week, and we somehow managed to fit what could have been a very long chat into a super condensed, power can of tasty glory that you can enjoy in one sitting! There is also a bunch of songs to listen to on this one, most of which play after the chat with Troy. Catch him on t...
8. David Holtze: Harvest Kitchen, Green Truck SD, The Boardroom, Billie Jean's Dad 08.03.2021 1:37:43
Another episode, ON LOCATION! I chatted with Mr. David Alan Holtze in his cool little venue The Boardroom -- which is adjacent to his boutique catering and event company Harvest Kitchen . (Disclosure: this IS the spot where I'm the Executive Chef!) We sipped on some cheap bourbon we "borrowed" from the pantry. All the while we talked about his life growing up in Illinois, and the...
7. Aaron Dalbec: Essex Coffee Roasters. Be Well. Converge. Only Crime. BANE. Ten Yard Fight. 01.03.2021 1:19:00
Episode 7: Aaron Dalbec. This soft spoken gentleman truly does it all. Here is just a little bit of his story, enjoy! . He will roast your beans to order at Essex Coffee Roasters - profits from the sales of their collab roast with the band Crossed Keys will benefit the charity YSRP so you should feel good about your tasty purchase! . On top of being a Husband, a Father, and making coffee + t...
5. Steve O Garcia: Three Punk Ales, Emo Brown The Saddest Mexican, The Elwood 22.02.2021 1:26:53
You may know him as El Shamps, you may know him as Steve. You may know him as the owner of Thr3e Punk Ales , or owner of The Elwood . You have probably heard his voice on his podcast: Emo Brown The Saddest Mexican . And now you will come to know him as President of a new charity, The Emo Brown Foundation. Is that enough? Let's listen to a conversation we did on locati...
4. Tyler, the Beer Savage 15.02.2021 1:26:15
Coming from our young times in local punk bands, Tyler grew up and moved to Orange County to begin his empire(s). Listen as we talk about his addiction to stationary bicycles... Plus, a few of his own companies, his time at Active Ride Shop, Beach Grease Beer Co, and so much more! Be sure to follow his shenanigans online at beersavage.com and Instagram.com/beersavage ************ Peek...
2. "Cranky" Cameron Collins: OC Brew HaHa, Punk in Drublic Fest, and More... 08.02.2021 1:07:13
Cameron Collins is one of my oldest (time-wise, not age haha) buddies. His story is very interesting to me, as he moved into a career in the business of doing festivals that include both rad concerts AND craft beer and food. On top of that, the festivals go on tour around the country! Insane! We talk about this, setting up beer and band collaborations, the state of the indu...
1. Mister Mogan Brown: Dogwood Tour Manager, and beyond... 02.02.2021 1:00:27
I got to talk with Mister Mogan Brown-- longtime music pal and tour manager of Dogwood. He was also Stage manager at Metro Chicago for a spell, and he has held various other jobs in the music industry. Get this: he grew up in Salem, OR on Dogwood Street! Random coincidence. Hear us talk about movies, French Onion Soup, beer pairings, and a dream concert lineup... Song at th...
