Live from the Pacific Coast Pensioners Associations Conference! Dan and Steph have a conversations with Zack Pattin of ILWU 23 and Kyle Mcginn from the MUA about the future of the maritime youth movement.

We got a chance to sit down with CUPW Vancouver President Jennifer Savage to talk about the struggle, bargaining and the potential new deal.

This episode begins with speeches given on the picket line by David Black, Graeme Johnson, Irene Lazinger, Terry Engler and Rob Ashton. We then have a conversation with David Black, president of MoveUp and Janice Ford. We wrap up with returning presidents Rob Ashton (ILWU) and Graeme Johnston (BCFMWU).

This morning we went to show our support for the good people at MoveUp. We spoke with Ryan Hamer from MoveUP local 378, and Donna Forscutt and Allen Towers on Unifor 888, as we try to cast some light on a bit of a confusing situation with the BC Nurses Union.

On July 8 ILWU Local 502 hosted the first ever "Taking it to the Streets" 4 on 4 ball hockey tournament  in support of the Surrey Food Bank . After a year of asking to come on the show we finally have time for recently retired ILWU Canada president  Mark Gordienko . He joins us to talk about his tenure as president and trustee and shares some stories as a rank and file member. Dan and Mike crash the ILWU 502 pensioners banquet but none of the old timers wanted to talk to us...... so we settled for ILWU Canada President Rob Ashton, and 1VP Shawn Nolan.

Mike heads all the way to Stewart B.C. to talk with ILWU Local 519 workers about the lies they were told, and false promises made. The community was promised family supporting jobs that would stay in their small community. Thats not what happened..... 

Finally, Troy Cook and Alex Hanson from the USW, Steel Megaphone Podcast join us. We sit down and talk about how we are using podcasting as a tool for labour to communicate and touch on some international labour issues. 

ILWU Canada Young Worker Committee member Stephanie Dobler takes the helm and sits down with ILWU 2nd VP Steve Nasty, Brian Skiffington of ILWU 23 in Tacoma, and Danielle Burgess also of the ILWU Canada Young workers committee. The group discussed the youth movement in the ILWU and their time at the ILWU Canada Convention.

Bobby Olvera Jr president of local 13 joins us to offer his insight on automation and union structure in California. Then ILWU International Vice President Ray Familathe joins us to talk about the contract battles he's dealt with during his time with the ILWU.

First we talk with GWU President Gerry Gault about the grain handlers coming home to the ILWU to become local 333. Then we speak with ILWU 400 VP Jason Woods about free trade and the struggles in the tugboat industry.
