The Dave Walsh Podcast - Drums In The Shed
Monthly musings about all things drums, and occasional other ramblings. I mostly ramble on about gigging, practising, and from time to time, I interview people. Also, there are lots of stories and some insights in to my philosophy towards not just music, but my approach to everyday situations. Thanks for listening. Foundations Part#2 02.01.2020 54:42
This is the 2nd part of the 'Foundations' series, in which I talk about the often misunderstood and multidimensional rudiment, the Flam! There are some general ramblings about the voyage of discovery via my good friend Elliott Henshaw, and Steve Gadd. There are also some practical examples here too. It's not a lesson, it's more of a discussion about some other ways fo thinking about the flam. Hope...
Brushes 15.12.2019 1:27:32
In this episode, slightly longer than I hoped, I discuss the sound-world of brushes. This is not a brushes 'lesson', more an insight in to my journey with brushes, how and why I learnt to play them. Who to check out. Different approaches to vertical and lateral playing. And some general musings about experiences of playing brushes in different styles of music. This is not a 'jazz' focused edition....
Foundations Part#1 06.12.2019 1:03:40
Podcast#3. Today I ramble on about this concept of 'Foundations' in one's playing. It starts with me explaining the ideas behind a collection of exercises I invented between 2004 - 2006. I also talk about different ways to have foundations in your playing or approach to learning. There's also a short intermission to deal with a weather harassed cat. Hope you enjoy.
The Pad! 20.11.2019 51:37
Some random musings about my old practice pad. I've had it since I was 12. It's been with me all the way through my journey so far on the drums. I supposed it's a little tribute to this inanimate object that has been such a great place of discovery and solitude for me.
Down a Rabbit Hole 17.11.2019 47:15
Just some random musings about spending time listening, absorbing and not getting overwhelmed by the unlimited choices we have available to us these days.
