In this Friday's Daf, just before Tish'ah B’Av, we find a reference to none other than Churban Beis HaMikdash. However, the reference is not one that evokes mourning for the Churban or yearning for the restoration of the Beis HaMikdash. In fact, it might ironically do the opposite. It challenges us to ask ourselves if we are really ready for Binyan Beis HaMikdash.

Why is the Ta'anis different from others? Why is this Aveilus different from others? What is the secret of the dual identity of Tish'ah B’Av? What is the secret to Nechamah? The answer may be found in the Torah where there was once Aveilus but with no Nechamah.

Devarim sets the stage for Moshe Rabbeinu's final speech and does so in a way that is so precise and specific, that it's not at all clear where the speech to took place. How is that possible? This Shabbos, our Parsha and our Daf celebrate Semichah. We will look at each of them and learn an incredibly inspiring idea which my own Rebbi, HaGa'on Rav Yonason Sacks shared on our Parsha at my Chag HaSemichah.
