The Psalms: A Word About the Pslalms. Today we look at the elements of the Psalms. Praise & Worship Prayers of all types. (searching prayers, petitions, sadness & longing, calling on God's character, gratitude & thanksgiving, and repentence) Promises of God Prophecies - glimpses of grace & pictures of Jesus.

The Psalms - A New Song. Today we discuss the power of music to connect us to each other and our God. We read Psalm 98:1-7 and discuss singing new songs to God.

The Psalms: Steadfast Love - Hesed. Today we look at the Hebrew word "hesed" which is used repeatedly in te Old Testament to describe God's enduring, generous, loyal love. The Psalms: Lord of All Creation. Today we read Psalm 104 and discuss the themes as we read. The Psalmist lays out examples of how God created the world and placed things so that they would be sustained. We parallel this thought of God providing for all of his creation with Jesus' words in Matthew 6:25-33.

Psalms: Sing! Today we read Psalm 92:1-5. We talk about the commands to sing throughout the Bible. We discuss scientific discoveries about the benefits of singing. The Psalms: My Shepherd. Today we look at Psalm 23 and John 10 and celebrate that we have a God and Savior who is our Shepherd who leads us through hard times. Pauline also shares her new song, "Come to My Jesus."

Psalms: Calling on the Name of the Lord. Our scripture for today is found in Psalm 9:8-11. We look at the power of the name of the Lord and the stability we can gain by knowing God's names.

The Psalms: Peaceful Sleep. Today we look at Psalm 4. We open with Psalm 4:8 and discuss the life lessons of learning to pray these words as a prayer. We then look at the way that David leads us to these words and the lessons we see in verses 1-7.

The Psalms: Saved From My Enemies. Today we look at Psalm 18. We read verses 1-3 and consider the question, "Who are my enemies?" We look at some of the answers David found and how the cross gives us hope to overcome life's hardships.

Psalms: Come Let Us Worship. Today we look at Psalm 95 and discuss the lessons on worship we find there. Pauline also shares the beginning of her new song that puts Psalm 95 to music.

Dust & Dirt: Are We There Yet? Today we look at 1 Peter 2:9-11. We look at the hardships of road trips and how we can find peace in the midst of our road trip through life.

Dust & Dirt: Build That Wall! Today we discuss Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. We discuss the spiritual significance of the walls they built. Our scripture reading is from 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 and later verses 23-29 of the same passage.

Dust & Dirt: Rocks in My Garden. Today we read Luke 8:5-8, commonly known as the parable of the sower. We focus in on the rocky soil and discuss what things can serve as rocks in our spiritual lives and what to do with them in order to grow strong spiritual roots.

Dust & Dirt: Secondhand Knowledge. Our scripture reading today is found in Isaiah 55:10-11. Today I tell about a road trip we took in 2009 in which I tried to follow a tennis match through someone else's description over the phone. We discuss the importance of reading God's Word and experiencing His presence firsthand.

Dust & Dirt: A Choice to Make. Today we discuss road trips and the exciting new things we see. We look at our tendency to quickly go from wonder and joy of new experiences to complacency. Our scripture reading is excerpts taken from the prayer of Moses, Miriam, and the Israelites once they had crossed the Red Sea. Dust & Dirt: My Garden Needs Water! Today we look at our need for water, both physically and spiritually. We look at the role of the Spirit of God who makes streams of living water flow in us to satisfy our spiritual needs. Our scripture reading is found in John 7:37-39.

Dust & Dirt: By Faith. Today we look at Hebrews 11:1-3 and discuss the faith chapter and what such a chapter might look like in our own lives. We wrap up with Hebrews 12:1-4 and look for encouragement to continue living by faith.

Dust & Dirt: Uncharted. Today we look at plans and their value and their limitations. Our scripture reading is found in Jeremiah 29:4-7, 10-14. We discuss our constant need for guidance from the only one who knows the future.

Dust & Dirt: Blinded by the Light. Today we read Ephesians 2:4-8 and discuss the conversion of Saul on his road trip to Damascus. We look at the power of God to save us and to use us.

Dust & Dirt: Carrots! Today we look at the lessons we can learn from growing and harvesting carrots. We look at 1 Samuel 16:6-13 and focus in on verse 7 as we discuss God's view of the heart.
