Jesus told the Church at Sardis that they had a reputation of being alive, but they were really dead. Their spiritual reality did not match their claims. It can be easy to fall into the trap of having a form of godliness, but not having the substance of godliness. This week we talk about how to avoid this pit fall in our “Hope for the Church” series. The reason we have hope in this message is because of what I ultimately see in this message and it is made clear is that Jesus is watching over the churches, and Jesus is willing to go to any length to protect His church. Revelation 2:18-29

Jesus is offering you a way of escape today. He has already defeated those things with his blood. He can wash you white and make you clean. He is calling you out from the things of the world. Revelation 2:8-17

Why do I still have hope for the Church? Because for all of the failures. For all of the hurts and pains. Despite inquisitions, crusades, and abuses. Jesus has not given up on the church. As I look at the structure of the messages to the seven churches, I have hope.

Love plays a vital role in the Christmas story.
