The Couch Potatoes

Hi there, Brett here. Two of my favourite shows wrapped up this week -- Bates Motel, and Broadchurch. I'll salute these great shows, and I'll dump on a crappy movie I saw this week, "Free Fire". We'll also tee up any new shows / season finales coming up this week.

This week we will revisit "The Fate of the Furious" -- last week Jeff saw it, and loved it. This week I saw it, and while I enjoyed it, there are a number of important questions to ask! Including... how many times do they say the word "family"? Also, Jeff's excited about a couple of big anniversaries this week, and I finally got around to seeing "Independence Day: Resurgence", and I wish I hadn't....

Hi there. Brett here. Jeff went to see The Fate of The Furious. SURPRISE! He liked it. We've also got a bunch of tv stuff to get through, including the return of Better Call Saul, the end of season 2 of Colony, the impending end of season 2 of The Expanse, and The Magicians, and the impending return of The Leftovers, and Fargo. AND, perhaps the most emotional Tribal Council ever on this week's edi...

It's the April Movie Preview! Jeff is, of course, extremely excited about The Fate of The Furious (Fast & Furious 8). He's also excited about a couple of movies he saw this week -- Going In Style, and T2: Trainspotting. I didn't really do anything this week. ~Brett

Hi there, Brett here. I'm excited for the return of Prison Break, it starts on Tuesday, I'll tee that up. Also, I rented the movie Passengers the other day, it got bad reviews but for a renter, I didn't mind it. Finally, Jeff has found another reason to gush about the Fast & Furious movies.

This week on The Couch Potatoes I plowed through season 1 of Marvel's Iron Fist on Netflix, and was thoroughly disappointed. I'll tell you why. Also, Jeff has been on a Netflix binge of his own regarding stand-up comedy. He'll tell you about the new Dave Chappelle specials. We'll also talk some Star Wars -- 15 more years of movies about space wizards AFTER Episode 9! ~Brett

This week we went to see Kong: Skull Island, and we dig it. We'll tell you why. Also, Jeff went to see Get Out. That's right, he went to see a movie that's kinda scary! Good for him. He's usually too chicken for stuff like that. I'll tell you what I thought of the season finale for This Is Us, and the season opener for American Crime. AND, there's some bonus crap at the end of this week's podcast...

Jeff & I both saw 'Logan' this week, Hugh Jackman's final performance as Wolverine. We'll tell you what we think, and we'll also tell you what we think about the new season of 'Survivor' and a whole bunch of other TV crap. ~Brett

I forgot to load this over the weekend. Well, I guess I didn't forget. I wasn't at the station. I'm usually there on Saturdays, but this time, I wasn't. Anyway it's our March Movie Preview. Plus, we saw a bunch of movies, Jeff saw The Lego Batman Movie, I saw John Wick Chapter 2, Arrival, Moonlight, and Manchester by the Sea. That's right, I finally watched some Oscar movies. After the Oscars. I l...

Brett here -- I made a difficult decision recently, and dumped seven of the shows I watch. I will tell you which shows, and why. Also, Planet Earth II started last week, it is amazing, and we shall discuss it. Finally, Jeff makes his predictions for the Oscars!

Brett here -- this week I'll tee up a handful of high-profile shows coming to your television over the next few days, included the star-studden "Big Little Lies", debuting Sunday on HBO. I'll also review the new FX show "Legion", which is a comic book show like nothing you've ever seen. Meanwhile, Jeff is continuing his Best Picture rampage, trying to get caught up on all the nominees -- this week...

This week Jeff Braun continues his rampage through the Academy Award Best Picture nominees, with reviews of 'Hidden Figures' and 'Fences'. I'll tell you about a pair of fabulous winter murder mystery TV shows: CTV's 'Cardinal', and on Netflix, a show from Iceland called 'Trapped'. If you have subscribed already, feel free to do so!

This week we've got our February Movie Preview, Jeff's got a review of "Moonlight" as he gets caught up on the Best Picture nominees, and we lament the impending shutdown of HMV.

This week we celebrate the first season of the NBC & Global sitcom "The Good Place", which recently wrapped up on an ingenious note. Also, MARY KILLS PEOPLE started on Wednesday. It's pretty cool. And we'll talk Oscars, I guess. ~Brett

MARY KILLS PEOPLE. That's the name of a new show debuting this week, we'll tell you about that. Also, Jeff's got a review of "Manchester by the Sea". I'm hungry. ~Brett

This week I'll tell you about the latest show I devoured on Netflix -- The Fall, starring Gillian Anderson, and Jamie Dornan, aka That 50 Shades Guy. Jeff meanwhile will tell you about a movie that's SORT OF opening wide after its big win at the Golden Globes -- Moonlight. ~Brett

It's the January Movie Preview. Enjoy.

We're counting down our favourite 20 TV shows of 2016. We didn't really see a whole bunch of movies this year, so we're sticking with television. I can tell you of the movies I saw, I liked Hell or High Water, Captain America: Civil War, and Rogue One. Happy New Year! ~Brett

We've got a review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we'll talk some Golden Globes, a whole bunch of cool movie trailers, and some news about a guy with a very particular set of skills...

I'm too lazy to type up a description today. ~Brett

It's the December Movie Preview!

Brett's got a review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as well as a post-mortem on season 6 of American Horror Story (hint: it was excellent!), while Jeff laments the fact that The Good Place is already on a break after only nine episodes. Plus there's a host of cool movie trailers to tell you about.

It's the November movie preview, including a review of Doctor Strange.
