John Wick goes to Wine Country for Fire & Blood 15.05.2019

Hi there. This week on The Couch Potatoes, Jeff is pumped to see John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. I checked out something much more subdued on Netflix called Wine Country, and Game of Thrones burns it all down in the 2nd-last episode. Was it worth it? - Brett

Longshot is a winner; Our Planet is tough but great 08.05.2019

Hi there! Jeff went to see 'Longshot' this week, and says it's great! Although, he says the dirty jokes are dirty enough to even offend him a little bit. I've watched most of the Netflix nature documentary 'Our Planet', and it's gorgeous, but difficult to watch. And Game of Thrones delivers what many are saying one of its weakest episodes. We disagree! - Brett

May Movie Preview; 2nd opinion on Avengers: Endgame 02.05.2019

And as it turns out, that 2nd opinion... no much different than the first. OR IS IT? Also, it's May, which means we've got the May Movie Preview! And the Battle of Winterfell is taking a lot of heat for being too dark. Not figuratively dark, like the DC Comics movies, I mean too dark to see what's going on. We'll discuss if it was a problem or not. - Brett

AVENGERS: ENDGAME REVIEW! (no spoilers, promise) 26.04.2019

It's finally here! Avengers: Endgame! I've got a review. Also, Hobbs & Shaw released a new trailer, that more or less felt like the entire movie. Game of Thrones hits a home run with its 2nd episode of the final season, and Jeff finally watched a pair of classic sci-fi films! - Brett

THE ENDGAME IS ALMOST HERE!!!!! 17.04.2019

Hi there! This week on The Couch Potatoes we'll tee up Avengers: Endgame, which opens NEXT WEEK! We'll also discuss that first episode of season 8 of Game of Thrones, Jeff started watching a new-ish show about a bar cuz he likes shows about bars, and I've been watching something NOT so new, but it's never too late to go back to a classic. - Brett

Game of Thrones! The Matrix still holds up, and Jeff reviews a classic 11.04.2019

Hi there! This week we'll tee up the long-awaited 8th and final season of Game of Thrones. Also, I'll tell you about my experience watching The Matrix on the big screen for the 20th anniversary, which made me then watch the sequels again at home. We'll also go through some other classic films that debuted in 1999. And, Jeff has a belated review of Captain Marvel, and a VERY belated review of anoth...

April Movie Preview! Jeff offers second take on "Us" 04.04.2019

Hi there! April used to be kind of a crappy month at the movies before the Summer season started in May, but this year, much like last year, it will be home to the biggest opening movie of all time! ALSO A CORRECTION TO PASS ALONG: We indicate during the show that "The Best of Enemies" opens this weekend, on April 5th, which is not true. At least, not in Canada. It opens on April 5th in the U.S. S...

Getting 'The Dirt' on 'Us', The Matrix turns 20! 28.03.2019

Hi there! This week, I've got a review of "Us", and am bucking the trend somewhat with my take. Jeff watched the Motley Crue movie "The Dirt" on Netflix, and says it might as well be called "The Trash", or Motley POO. Ok he didn't say that, I made that stuff up as I'm typing this. And my all-time favourite movie has now been out for TWENTY YEARS. I feel old. - Brett

Apollo 11 soars; HBO not so 'Sharp' 21.03.2019

Hi there! Jeff went to see the moon landing documentary Apollo 11, and is about to hand out a rare honour. I recently watched HBO's Sharp Objects, and was so disappointed by it... I had to rewatch Big Little Lies to feel better! - Brett

Captain Meh-vel 14.03.2019

Hi there! I saw Captain Marvel this week. I'll explain in my review what I mean with that title. Jeff meanwhile reviewed a "classic" love story, and there's a trio of good ones coming to home video! - Brett

Spielberg vs. Netflix; Leaving Neverland 07.03.2019

Hi there! This week we'll discuss Steven Spielberg setting his sights on Netflix. He wants Netflix films banned from Oscar eligibility! Is he on to something? Or is it time for him to 'get with the times'? I checked out that Michael Jackson documentary on HBO, Leaving Neverland, and we'll both tell you what we thought of a movie that's been on our list for months: "Searching", starring John Cho. -...

March Movie Preview! True Detective wrap 28.02.2019

March is here, which means it's time for the March Movie Preview, which includes CAPTAIN MARVEL!!!! We'll also do an Oscars wrap, and we'll discuss season 3 of True Detective. One of us loved it. The other one fell asleep numerous times while watching it (but still liked it). - Brett

Braun's bold prediction for Best Picture; Brett is Dating Around 21.02.2019

Hi there! This week we'll make our Oscar picks, well, mostly Jeff cuz he's seen more of the movies than I have. We'll also discuss whether or not The Mighty Thor can withstand HULKAMANIA, and I watched the first Netflix reality dating show called "Dating Around". Normally this isn't my thing, but in this case, I DIG IT. - Brett

Hi there! This week on The Couch Potatoes, Jeff has completed his annual rite of passage by watching all eight Best Picture nominees for the Oscars. The Upside of asking Gotti: Won't You Be My Neighbor? 07.02.2019

Hi there! This week at last, I finally watched that Mister Rogers documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbour?", after it arrived a Netflix on Feb 1st, and it was sensational. Jeff's curiosity on "The Upside" finally defeated him, so he checked that one out and kinda digs it. He also watched one of the WORST movies of 2018, maybe one of the worst movies ever. - Brett

February Movie Preview! Plus, The Favourite, and Ted Bundy 31.01.2019

Hi there! This week it's the February Movie Preview, which includes Arnold Schwarzenegger in the unlikeliest of roles. Also, Jeff continues his march towards watching all of the Best Picture nominees, and I checked out a new crime doc about Ted Bundy on Netflix, which Netflix dramatically oversold with its DON'T WATCH IT ALONE nonsense. Harumph. - Brett

Oscar noms, Vice/Glass/Bumblebee reviews, & Jeff reviews a classic! 24.01.2019

Hi there! This week we'll weigh in on the Oscar nominations, I've got reviews of Glass, and Bumblebee. One of them was good, the other, not so much. Also, Jeff has thrown in the towel (ROCKY IV CALLBACK LOL?) on something he tried on Netflix. And, the Oscar race has officially begun, thanks to the National Board of Review! - Brett
