The Couch Potatoes

Hi there! American Horror Story 1984 debuts this week on FX, HBO has revealed a start date for His Dark Materials, Apple is set to launch its streaming service, Jeff reviewed a moved called The Peanut Butter Falcon, and the 1997 action classic Face/Off is getting a reboot!

The long-awaited 'IT Chapter Two' is out, and it kicks off our September Movie Preview, and while it's going to be a huge movie, Jeff says there's one that's even bigger. Also, Jeff continued his exploration of the BUTLERVERSE.

Hi there! This week we'll discuss the debut trailer for the Breaking Bad movie 'El Camino', which was launched by Netflix on August 24th. We'll also talk about the new 'special look' at Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, Jeff checked out the blu-ray for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and HOW LONG is Martin Scorsese's new movie???

Hi there! I'll start with a disclaimer: As of the moment I'm posting this, Spider-Man could be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to a dispute between Sony & Disney. If that changes, well then, lol? ALSO, I am BEYOND thrilled that The Matrix 4 is happening, with Keanu Reeves & Carrie-Ann Moss returning! And, Jeff gets Springsteened by Blinded by the Light. - Brett

Hi there! This week, Jeff's getting excited for the switch from summer popcorn movies to more serious Oscar-fare, and he's also excited about what he's seen so far from BH90210. We'll mark the beginning of season 2 of the Netflix show Mindhunter, and the end of the Sherlock Holmes drama Elementary. AND, I took a second look at a classic film, and its two sequels (which I'd never seen!). - Brett

Hi there! The Couch Potatoes have been on separate vacations, but we managed to mangle a show together for you, complete with different perspectives on the latest Tarantino film, a look back at a classic 'sort-of' Tarantino film, and Jeff went to see Hobbs & Shaw!

Hi there! August contains what Jeff will no doubt proclaim the Best Picture of 2019, Hobbs & Shaw! The month also includes a movie about a dog, with the voice of Kevin Costner! Yes, it's a month of cinematic mastery, and we'll give you the rundown of all the majesty that awaits at your local multiplex! - Brett

Hi there! Jeff's on vacation for the next couple of weeks, so we had to record the show ahead of time. How to do that, though, without it sounding TOO dated? How about... a list! We're looking at our favourite TV shows of 2019... so far.

Hi there! This week we'll discuss the Emmy nominations and make some predictions, Jeff will tell you about SHAZAM! Which he saw this week on Blu-Ray courtesy of Warner Brothers, and I'll tell you about the first four episodes of Love Island. I feel a little ashamed for watching it, but mostly I'm just... not really 'vibin' it. LOL I WILL EXPLAIN MORE ON THAT LOL LOL LOL - Brett

Hi there! This week I've got a review of Stranger Things 3, as well as another show I've been watching on Netflix called Slasher, and Jeff marks the anniversary of another landmark film! - Brett

Hi there! We're doing our July movie preview this month, and there's not a lot to see. BUT, there are some big ones, including Spider-Man: Far From Home, for which Jeff has a review. Also, this week marks the 30th anniversary of Seinfeld! - Brett

Hi there. Since Toy Story 4 is out, the reigning box office champeen with a $120M opening weekend, we're counting down our favourite Disney/Pixar movies. Also, this week marked the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton's Batman. THIRTY YEARS. Good lord. And, Jeff checked out a pair of classic spy thrillers. ALSO, EDITOR'S NOTE: At the beginning of the show Jeff says he has a review of a new-ish movie cal...

Hi there. This week we'll take a look at why the summer movie season has been thus far such a dud. Also, Jeff watched a new Adam Sandler / Jennifer Aniston movie on Netflix, and if you believe Netflix it's the biggest movie in the universe, but Jeff says it has no business earning that sort of accolade. Jeff also revisited a timeless classic, and the Avengers are coming back to the big screen! But...

Hi there! This week Jeff started watching two of my favourite shows, and I watched a show out of chronologic order! But, it was worth it. - Brett

Hi there! This week, it's the June Movie Preview, and we'll tell you about the next X-Men movie, the next Toy Story movie, and two movies about scary dolls that want to take your life! We'll also tell you about a "Batman v Bourne" situation that revealed itself this week, and I watched season 2 of 'Trapped' on Netflix. It is stellar. - Brett

Hi there. Last week I promised a review of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Turns out, I lied. I didn't go see Godzilla this week. Or, Godillza as I once put up on a sign when I worked at Taco Bell as a teenager. I was stupid. Instead, I started watching the HBO miniseries Chernobyl, and it is AMAZING. Jeff saw the new movie Booksmart, and he'll tell you why he loved it. I'll also tell you about an...

Hi there. We know it was a divisive finale, but The Couch Potatoes are not divided. We were both happy with the finale for Game of Thrones, and we're hoping in time, some of the anger will subside. Jeff has a plethora of movie reviews: John Wick Chapter 3, A Dog's Journey, and some documentary about Bruce Springsteen. And the first trailer debuted for the new Terminator movie! - Brett

Hi there. This week on The Couch Potatoes, Jeff is pumped to see John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. I checked out something much more subdued on Netflix called Wine Country, and Game of Thrones burns it all down in the 2nd-last episode. Was it worth it? - Brett

Hi there! Jeff went to see 'Longshot' this week, and says it's great! Although, he says the dirty jokes are dirty enough to even offend him a little bit. I've watched most of the Netflix nature documentary 'Our Planet', and it's gorgeous, but difficult to watch. And Game of Thrones delivers what many are saying one of its weakest episodes. We disagree! - Brett

And as it turns out, that 2nd opinion... no much different than the first. OR IS IT? Also, it's May, which means we've got the May Movie Preview! And the Battle of Winterfell is taking a lot of heat for being too dark. Not figuratively dark, like the DC Comics movies, I mean too dark to see what's going on. We'll discuss if it was a problem or not. - Brett

It's finally here! Avengers: Endgame! I've got a review. Also, Hobbs & Shaw released a new trailer, that more or less felt like the entire movie. Game of Thrones hits a home run with its 2nd episode of the final season, and Jeff finally watched a pair of classic sci-fi films! - Brett

We'll also discuss that first episode of season 8 of Game of Thrones, Jeff started watching a new-ish show about a bar cuz he likes shows about bars, and I've been watching something NOT so new, but it's never too late to go back to a classic. - Brett

Hi there! This week we'll tee up the long-awaited 8th and final season of Game of Thrones. Also, I'll tell you about my experience watching The Matrix on the big screen for the 20th anniversary, which made me then watch the sequels again at home. We'll also go through some other classic films that debuted in 1999. And, Jeff has a belated review of Captain Marvel, and a VERY belated review of anoth...

Hi there! April used to be kind of a crappy month at the movies before the Summer season started in May, but this year, much like last year, it will be home to the biggest opening movie of all time! ALSO A CORRECTION TO PASS ALONG: We indicate during the show that "The Best of Enemies" opens this weekend, on April 5th, which is not true. At least, not in Canada. It opens on April 5th in the U.S. S...

Hi there! This week, I've got a review of "Us", and am bucking the trend somewhat with my take. Jeff watched the Motley Crue movie "The Dirt" on Netflix, and says it might as well be called "The Trash", or Motley POO. Ok he didn't say that, I made that stuff up as I'm typing this. And my all-time favourite movie has now been out for TWENTY YEARS. I feel old. - Brett
