Words can hurt or heal. They can leave scars and cuts, or they can be soothing medicine. Thus it’s imperative to be careful what we say to others. Can we control what we say? Yes. Is it always easy? No, but with the Lord’s help, we can.

Being in control of what we say is part of how we demonstrate our living faith.  Our words have power so what we say truly matters.  James teaches us that the caution and care with what we say reveals a true spiritual maturity.

James seems to say that we need to work for our salvation. But is that true? Salvation is simple: faith by grace. At the same time, our actions matter. Transformation occurs in the life of the believer after salvation. What does that look like?

Do you see others the way God sees them? In his epistle, James establishes the principle of no partiality. As Christians, we need to embrace this same principle in the life of the church.  Join us as we continue our exploration of James, and discover how to see others as God sees them.

More than any other book in the New Testament, James places a spotlight on the necessity for believers to think, speak, and act in faith.  Do your actions mirror the faith that you proclaim?  James helps us answer this challenging question and develop a living, thriving faith. There is a difference between fate and destiny.  Fate is predetermined outcomes set by outside forces, while destiny is a journey you are called to join but have a choice of whether or not you will accept the calling. Destiny is God's purpose for you. It's your appointed and ordained future into what God has called you to become.  

There are promises, goals, and dreams that God has placed in your heart. You didn’t come up with them on your own. Those aren’t just your desires; God put them there. The “secret petitions of your heart” are the things you dream about, that you haven’t told anyone. They seem too big, too far out. That’s your Destiny Calling. That’s God telling you what you can become.

Psalm 91 is about a trusting and faithful person who affirms their status as safe and secure even during a time of calamity and distress.  We serve a God who is a shelter, fortress, refuge, and more.  For the believer, this status all begins in The Secret Place .

Back in the day, Michael Jordan was almost universally known as the greatest of all time in college and professional basketball.  When the game was on the line and there was only one shot left to win, you wanted the ball in Jordan’s hands.  He was going to make sure his team won. The final words of Christ on the cross are words expressing full trust:  “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” ...

This is Palm Sunday, when we remember and celebrate the day Jesus entered Jerusalem as Savior and King.  The disciples who followed His instructions that day set into motion the greatest events ever recorded in history. It was An Act of Trust.

At least a couple times, we can find in the letters of the Apostle Paul that he compares his life of faith to running a race.  Additionally, in the twelfth chapter of the Epistle to the Hebrews, we read that we too are in a race.  The goal is not simply to run but to win. This race has a prize.

Are you a dreamer?  As a believer in Christ, we can all be dreamers. God gives us dreams, hopes, and desires to fulfill His Kingdom on the earth.  Sometimes, though, it can be difficult when we are waiting and waiting and waiting for them to come about.  Join us as we explore how faith can help us live the dream while we wait.

When we read the scriptures and see all the promises of God but realize we are not seeing them in our lives, we can quickly start to doubt that His promises are for us today.  Discover adjustments we can make in our lives to experience the manifestations of the Kingdom of God on a daily basis.
