The Holy Spirit equips us with spiritual gifts for the common good of the Church. The gifts are given according to God’s will and not ours; we don’t receive them because we somehow have earned them or deserve them. The gifts that God gives us are not to be used for our own boasting or entertainment.

The ultimate purpose of the Holy Spirit’s operation in the life of a Christian is to promote personal transformation — transformation that makes our character increasingly like the character of Jesus Christ. As we look at John 16:13-15, we hear Jesus’ final words about the Holy Spirit. What does He emphasize as He comes to the cross but the central and often overlooked work of the Spirit to glorify Christ. This is an important passage, because it helps us avoid two common mistakes: - Pitting the Spirit against the Scriptures. - Pitting the Spirit against Christ.

The Holy Spirit applies to us what Christ has accomplished for us.

We look at how the Holy Spirit saves and converts, and brings about “New Life.”

We look at the relationship of the Holy Spirit to the world, and the Holy Spirit’s role to convict the world in three ways: 1. Concerning sin 2. Concerning righteousness 3. Concerning judgment

As we conclude our series in Colossians, we look at what it means to have Jesus as our ALL IN ALL when it comes to our work. Paul has so much to teach us on how our work is such an opportunity to make much or Jesus. We were created to work, and we will look at some ways we can glorify Jesus in our work. We are also looking at some of Paul's parting words for us as Colossians concludes.

As the book of Colossians draws to an end, the apostle Paul continues to teach about how Christ is to be our All in All. After addressing how this looks in community, he addresses in this section how this ought to look in family. How is Christ shown to be our All in All in our families? We look at this for men, women and children.

What does it look like, in a tangible way, for Christ to be ALL IN ALL in the church community? Colossians 3:12 says to those who have "put on" the new self: "As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on... [the garments of your newness]." You have come to know and experience that Christ is all. Now show how people relate to each other for whom Christ is all. Confirm that Christ...

In the first two chapters of the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul has shown us what Jesus has done for us and who He is. Then in Chapter 3, Paul begins to outline what Jesus does through us. Paul interacts us to "put off our old self." We look at what this means, and how Christian growth happens through the spiritual combustion cycle of repentance and faith.

As we begin Colossians 3, we look at what it means to be raised with Christ, seeking after Christ, and being hidden with Christ in God. We look at what it means to set our minds after the things above, and not on the things on earth, as we continue to seek after Jesus, the living God.
