The mystery of God that had been hidden for centuries was revealed through Jesus - and that mystery is the church. The church is Jesus’ body, made up of individuals from all tribes, tongues and nations. The church is not just a Sunday gathering, but God’s way of displaying his wisdom.

Having just explained the wonderful truth of God’s free gift of salvation by grace, Paul now goes on to explain further implications of the gospel. By the blood of Christ, we have bee brought near, with Jesus as the basis for our peace with one another and with God. We are now members of God’s household, we are now a temple in the Lord, we are a dwelling place for God.

After telling us all about the spiritual blessings we have received in Christ, Paul goes on to pray for the church in Ephesus. He prays that God would give them the ‘spirit of wisdom and revelation’ who would enlighten the eyes of their hearts so that they would know 3 things: 1. The hope they have been called to 2. God's inheritance in the saints 3. The power at work towards them

In Paul's opening to the letter to the Ephesians, he paints a big picture of who believers are in Christ and the blessings that they have received.

To walk by the Spirit is life transforming, but it can be challenging and difficult with the danger of falling into legalism or licence. We have our part to play in walking free in Christ and crucifying the desires of the flesh. If we walk by the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit will grow in us. We will become more like Jesus and others will see the difference in us and be drawn to him.

In the short letter of Jude we are instructed to pray in the Holy Spirit. What does that mean? How do we do it? And what's the fruit that comes from it?

The baptism (or filling) of the Holy Spirit is something that is available to all believers, and the authentic mark of it is a transformed life, filled with power to be a witness for Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians to correct their misuse of spiritual gifts. They were abusing the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to the church, turning them into means of status and competition. Paul shows the Corinthians a better way, bringing them back to the main purpose of the gifts - love for God and for others.
