House Bill 2720, dubbed the "casita bill," is the latest legislative effort to address the state's housing crisis by requiring Arizona cities to allow accessory dwelling units, or ADUs. According to a 2022 legislative study, Arizona is short about 270,000 housing units, and the state's population has only grown since. Does this bill do enough to help the Valley's housing shortage?

A Republican-backed plan to convince voters to duplicate federal immigration enforcement by letting police officers arrest migrants and Arizona judges deport them could end up costing the state at least $325 million every year.
