The Phoenix Police Department has routinely engaged in “a pattern” of using unlawful force, disproportionately targeted people of color and routinely violated the rights of protesters, people experiencing behavioral health issues and unhoused people, according to U.S. Justice Department investigators.

Why do the Phoenix Police need supervision if they’ve already implemented change? Chris makes the case through a sports analogy. Joe gets into the argument they haven't done enough and the problem runs deeper than just a few individuals. 

With the report coming from the DOJ finding the Phoenix Police have committed numerous constitutional violations, the community is left wondering if the PD has taken any measures to get better.  Turns out they have. Chris and Joe explore what the city and police department have done.   

The U.S. Department of Justice found that Phoenix Police regularly used unjustified excessive force, unlawfully detained people experiencing homelessness, targeted minorities, violated rights of protesters and discriminated against people with behavioral health disabilities. KTAR Legal Analyst joined Chris and Joe in this special hour of the show.
