The Cherry Picker

This week we are revisiting the surprise prequel in the Final Destination franchise in its fifth entry. One of the better ones, in our opinion, as it builds upon the lore of the previous films. So join us as we discuss all the clues and continuity errors of this being a period piece. We'll also compare and contrast to some of our favorite moments and characters from the first four movies. Als...

With Scary Movie 6 on the horizon, we're revisiting the satire of all satires with the original, released way back in the year 2000. Join us as we reminisce of a time where comedy was not only funny, but also extremely offensive. Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting for which one was the most deservi...

Now that Scream 7 is out and about, let's play a fun little game. We're taking all the characters from Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Scream 4, Scream (2022), Scream VI, and Scream 7, and putting them through a bout of F#@% Marry Kill (aka Kiss Marry Kill). We're hitting the 90s hard this week with Tales From the Crypt presents Demon Knight. Join us as we explore the pre-Scream landscape of horror. It may not have had the best track record, but there were a few gems such as this one, where art direction and practical effects transcended the genre to a level that is now a distant memory. Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome c...

We're back after some technical difficulties. And we may have missed Friday the 13th by a few days, but we were determined to get this episode out to you. The New Blood is an entry in the F13 franchise that has always been very polarizing, especially for boasting some of the greatest FX that never were seen, thanks to extensive cuts by the studio. Anyway, as always, we've picked out the...

The countdown to SCREAM 7 continues this week with our re-cap of Scream VI. This movie was fast tracked for release after the success of Scream (2022). And while it was celebrated at the time for its high-octane set pieces, it hasn't aged very well for us. How do we feel about it today? Well, prepare yourself, because we are taking no prisoners. And as always, we've picked out the most l...

The countdown to SCREAM 7 continues this week with our re-cap of Scream 5. This franchise lay dormant for 11 years (not including the mostly unrelated television series), so the announcement of a fifth instalment was a huge deal in the wake of the slasher resurgence, and also the catalyst for the term "requel". But how does it hold up four years later. Join us as we give you are unfilter...

And as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting for which...

Join us as we say goodbye to Eddie and have some fun fan-casting feuding duos to star in a hypothetical Baby Jane remake.  Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us...

🦅 Released 15 years ago, My Soul to Take was Wes Craven's second to last film, and one that is notoriously maligned. But is it that bad...? Well, you will have to hear what we say about it, because this is one of those movies where the conversation surprised us. Also, as always, we've picked out the most loathsome characters from the film, so join us at the end of the episode in voting...

❄️ Just three episodes left for Eddie, so we are wrapping up another long-covered franchise this week. Cult of Chucky was the last feature film in the official Chucky franchise (before he went over to television), and we have some very opposing thoughts on the movie. We also have our franchise rankings, so there's lots of spicy takes to be had in this episode. Also, as always, we've pick...

🦖 With this being Eddie's last month co-hosting the podcast, we wanted to finish off one of his favorite franchises that we have been covering... I mean, technically, we haven't covered the remake yet, but The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise would not be complete without Wes Craven's super meta, high concept sequel, which also happens to be the concluding chapter in what we lovin...

🔟 For this month's Patreon's Choice episode, we are sifting through the 21st century (2001-Present) to pick out our top 10 horror movies. Be sure to vote on the Cherry...

🦃 We love slashers here at The Cherry Picker, and with the holiday right around the corner, we figured it was a good time to visit a newer entry in the genre with Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. In this episode we will discuss the original "Grindhouse" trailer that started it all, and how it evolved into a feature film 16 years later. This is a fun episode, because Thanksgiving is a movie...

🛍️ Reaching way back to the early 90s with this one! Before it was a hit television series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy was a wacky offbeat movie which was heavily meddled, resulting in a tonally different version which flopped hard, but has since become a cult classic. Join us as we mine the comedy gold, and draw comparisons to what the series would eventually become. Also, as always, we...

📐 The Halloween franchise marathon comes to its conclusion this week with a supersized episode where we will be talking about 2 MOVIES IN 1 with the Theatrical and Producer's Cuts of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. We do our best to rationalize the crazy thorn cult stuff. We will also provide our rankings of the Halloween franchise so far (only based on the movies we've covered.....

🍪 Of all the over-hated horror movie sequels known to existence, you won't find another one that we staunchly defend more than Halloween 5! So major TRIGGER WARNING!!! We will be having a good time unpacking all the bad things (that we love so adoringly), as well as all the great things (which are unfairly overlooked). Join us if you love or love to hate this movie. We know it's ridicul...
