You've seen the polls showing that large majorities of Democratic voters want the party to pick a new nominee for president in 2024, bypassing incumbent President Joe Biden. Now we're seeing the living embodiment of those polls as some important Democratic lawmakers distance themselves from, or outright oppose, a reelection run by the nearly 80-year-old president.

It is not common practice for senior U.S. government officials to visit Taiwan. The last time a really high-ranking official visited Taiwan was 25 years ago, when then-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich traveled there. Gingrich remained the highest-ranking U.S. official ever to visit Taiwan until today, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) arrived in Taipei.

President Joe Biden's job approval rating has slipped below 40% in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. As of this writing, it is 39.9%, versus a 54.4% disapproval rating. Biden, of course, has been underwater in the polls for a long time.

How many times has President Joe Biden blamed today's painful inflation on "Putin's price hike?" No need to count — he's done it a lot. The problem has always been, of course, that inflation, including energy inflation, began well before Russia's Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in late February.

There's no doubt inflation is the nation's most pressing concern. All the polls show it. All the data show it. And everyone just personally knows it. President Joe Biden will not admit that his policies, and his party's policies, have made inflation worse — and that, if Biden and congressional Democrats had their way, they would make it worse still.
