In a matter of four years, Florida went from being viewed as the ultimate swing state to a red state. The state’s latest voter registration information reflected the continued surge in Republican momentum in Florida. The Republican advantage over Democrats stood at a record of 1,541,333 voters last month.    

Florida’s Primary Day Results – Top 3 Takeaways – August 19th, 2026 19.08.2026

There was an enthusiasm gap; however, it served as a GOP advantage. Republicans were able to run up the score on Tuesday’s primary Election Day. GOP turnout was 15.2% higher than it was for Democrats, meaning Republican turnout outperformed Democrats by 3.8 points on a relative basis.

The Republican advantage over Democrats now stands at a record 1,541,333. The total includes a net change of 21,085 voters in July. Of Florida’s 67 counties – only 8 currently have Democrat majorities by way of voter registration. It's clear that the trends that were in place prior to 2024’s election cycle have continued to play out after it as well.
