We came in with nothing we will leave with nothing and every deed every thought —everything that we ever experienced on this earth God already knows completely. Have you ever seen a student who went to take a test but did not prepare for it? Panic sets in. The realization that they were not ready. At that moment probably many prayers are uttered. Solomon started well. But he didn't finish well. This makes me sad but it also humbles me that we should never rest from ceasing from seeking to give our very best to God and to walk in humility, for all of us can easily go astray. Bible Reading: 1 Kings 1-5 Scripture Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 3:9

Work while you work, play while you play. This is the way to be happy each day. All that you do, do with your might. Things done by halves are never done right. This old rhyme has a lot of wisdom to offer concerning our work ethic. Don't do things "half-baked". Give your very best. For it is God we are ultimately serving. If we're honest, we all like to be the center of attention. We like it when people like us. And when they don't, we can be given to despair if we give people that power. Bible Reading: Galatians 1-3 Scripture Verse of the Day: Galatians 1:10

Strength is a coveted thing in our culture. The weak are categorically discarded and youth and strength and vigor are revered. But human strength fades. And true strength is found in admitting our need. Bible Reading: Psalms 59-61 Scripture Verse of the Day: Psalm 59:9

Have you ever had someone who just had it out for you? They just did not like you. Try as you might, you could not turn the situation around. But the stories we lead and live with unfolding drama are really ultimately His story. As we see God deliver us time and again, and share our testimonies of God's deliverance, His story is heard. God's presence is the greatest present of all, but it is often neglected by God's people. Bible Reading: Exodus 33-36 Scripture Verse of the Day: Exodus 33:15          

Our thoughts determine our walk with God. Will we cave to worldly ideologies, or surrender to a godly, biblical worldview? Letting our minds be ruled by the flesh or this world is letting ourselves be deceived. But aligning our thoughts with God's word is true freedom. People operate under the influence all the time—under the influence of the enemy—without realizing it. Behind our enemies is the real enemy. But if we respond in the Spirit, with grace and kindness, an enemy can become a friend and we can usher them into a relationship with God. We can grow up in a Christian culture and still not know God. Being a Christian does not mean life will be perfect. But it does mean we can know God. Knowing God is not the same as knowing about Him. Bible Reading: Job 41-42 Scripture Verse of the Day: Job 42:5

Don't forget why we worship. The heritage and purpose behind the first moments of worship in the Old Covenant are no different than the intention behind our worship today - so we can know God and make Him known, and so God may dwell with us and us in Him.
