God is our banner. We are His people who bear His identity. Lack of confidence can keep us from God's calling on our lives as we focus on our inabilities, but confidence in Christ helps us to overcome. Sometimes we don't recognize our need to be saved. We forget that we were enslaved to sin.   Bible Reading: Mark 13-14 Verse of the day: Mark 13:13, "Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." When we try to help others in their struggles, we help them best by pointing them to Jesus, not by judging them.   Bible Reading: Job 33-34 Verse of the day: Job 33:26, "When he prays to God, he will be accepted. It is hard to be still in a busy world. We tend to think that everything depends on us, but it depends on God. We all have holes in our souls, places of longing for God to satisfy. We can't get satisfaction from that which was never intended to satisfy. The hard places in this life can evoke a fight or flight response within us. But for those who are in Christ, it can be a place of faith, instead. Our God fights for us. Suffering has a purpose we can miss if we just focus on our pain. Let God use suffering in your life and don't miss the beauty found mingled with the pain.   Bible Reading: 2 Cor. 1-2 Verse of the day: 2 Corinthians 1:5, "For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ." Our faith in God is seen in our lives by the fruit we bear. Faith is not an end to itself. When we are befuddled by life's complexities and don't understand why things are as they are, Scripture tells us to get wisdom and understanding and God gives us His Holy Spirit to help us to understand. Sometimes our listening skills are not so great. We hear what we want to hear and then get mad at God when we don't think He hears us. But if we listen well, we might hear a message that has different intentions than we first thought. Sometimes we can try to make up for our shortcoming by pretending. Or get ourselves our of a tight spot by faking it. God's people are called to be set apart, not to fit in. We are the salt and light to the world. Even when we suffer as the world does, we are called to be different, trusting in God. People are looking for good news today. The bad news that pours into our minds every day can leave us feeling a bit jaded. But there is no greater news than the Gospel. No other gospel can save but the gospel of Jesus Christ.
