Acts 14:8-18 When Paul heals a lame man, the Lystrans decide he and Barnabas are gods. What a great opportunity for them to get a following if they were just making all of this up. But that isn't what they did. They did everything they could to get the Lystrans to realize there were just men, but there is a true God in heaven who wants to save them through Jesus. Acts 13:26-39 While most of the New Testament and most of us today view the message of salvation as the crucifixion and atoning death of Jesus, Luke has a different perspective. Sure, he knows about the death and its atoning nature. But his main focus is on the resurrection. It is the resurrection that proves the death was anything more than just another man dying. Acts 13: 20-26 Paul makes a subtle argument in his preaching. He explains how God gave Saul to be king, but then removed him and replaced him with David. This sets the stage for God removing the Law and replacing with the gospel, removing Moses and replacing him with Jesus. Read the written devo that goes along with this episode by clicking here . Edwin and Andrew get just a tad rhetorical. We notice Luke's method of proving to us that Paul is just as much an apostle as Peter. Acts 11:4-18 Edwin and Andrew hit head on the controversy surrounding Cornelius's conversion. Was he saved before he was baptized? Was he still lost when the Spirit fell upon him and his household? Acts 11: 1-3 Peter had just been involved in one of the most significant conversions in the short history of the church. The gospel had been opened up to the Gentiles.
