Terror and Tacos

Our schedules have gotten the best of us, but we managed to get together over burgers and colas for a short talk about our upcoming stage adaptation of Dracula, Victorian cultural constructs, and why we almost always root for the monster.

IT: Chapter Two (2019). Our 50th episode sends us into an existential crisis as we try to deal with how bad IT: Chapter Two is, but in the end we accept that the world is a terrible place.

Exorcist III (1990), Deep Red (1975), and many more. We delve into some our favorite scary moments in horror and try to figure out why they terrify us so much. Some of the movies are brilliant, some are terrible, but all of them managed at least one truly scary moment.

Pet Sematary (2019). Homemade papas con huevos. The ground is sour, the changes are a mess, and the horror is gone. We talk the new Pet Sematary, having our nostalgia pumped for money, and the right way to make a taco classic.

The House of the Devil (2009). La Victoria Restaurant. We're back to talk about one of our favorite movies, one of our favorite directors, and the sheer insanity of living through the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980s as kids.

Midsommar (2019). We're back to review Midsommar, talk about bad relationships, and discuss our first two weeks of making a horror movie.

The Perfection (2019). We talk all the imperfections of The Perfection, twists and non-twists, Psycho, The Sixth Sense, and a bunch of other stuff.

How the Devil Got His Horns (2015), Angel Heart (1987), Damien: Omen II (1978). Tacos y Mas. For our first anniversary, we delve into the history of the Devil, what it takes to make the Arch Fiend scary, and a whole lot more. Thanks for sticking with us for a whole year!

The Curse of La Llorona (2019). We talk about The Curse of La Llorona, (which for some reason finds itself in The Conjuring Universe), growing up with stories of La Llorona, the importance of rules in horror movies, and the insanity of charging $18 for tacos.

Malicious (2018). Don't Knock Twice (2016). Taco Joint. For our 40th episode, we hit on horror movies that can't figure out their own rules, pointless CGI, some of our horror pet peeves, and more.

The Amityville Horror (1979),The Conjuring (2013). The passing of famed paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren got us talking about movies based on her and her husband's famous cases, demon houses, charlatans, and awkward '70s sex scenes.

Shark Exorcist(2015),The Manitou (1978), Prophecy (1979), Jason X (2001), Left Behind(2000). We're back! We break down what makes a movie so bad it's good vs. what makes a movie so bad we want to burn the world.

Us (2019). We talk the latest from Jordan Peele, doppelgängers, and the stupidity of marketing every horror movie as "the scariest movie ever made."

Mandy(2018). Taqueria Taxco. We try to wrap our minds around Mandy and the career of Nicholas Cage. We also found a new taco spot that is absolutely delicious.

Scream (1996), Candyman (1992), Silence of the Lambs (1991), The Craft (1996), etc. We talk '90s horror, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the birth and death of irony, and what it was like to be part of the MTV Generation.

Escape Room (2019). We review the new horror movie Escape Room, talk to an escape room expert, debate whether hot dogs are tacos, lament the price of movie snacks, and get a little angry and a little excited about some upcoming movies.

The Haunting of Julia (1977). The Burning (1981). Taqueria Panchito. We delve into a ghost story and a slasher that have flown under the radar for decades. We talk movies as time capsules, middle-aged exhaustion, the lure of the woods, and much more.
