We’re back – AGAIN! One is back from New York (heavily laden with Cheez Its) and the other from Play Expo Blackpool (heavily laden with a poorly voice).

Weeeeeee’re back! With a bumper podcast reviewing not one, not two, but, oh – actually 2 games. One in a top secret hotel and the other billions of light years away in a massive garden. Probably. We’ve both been super busy and missed all our lovely listeners, but rest assured 2018 will be arcadtabulous. Yes, I went there. AND I MEANT IT. Now go and play Robert Smith and the Deadly Chicken Dinner....

Wahoo! A busy, busty 3 weeks has gone by. The Sky Skipper event / Arcade Club party went well, Play Expo was on, Victor and Shaun have been busy as fuel injected bees with a heavy schedule and to top that we had some lovely Americans over! The past weeks have been chock full of arcade fun. “Doesn’t like rum n raisin” ? “Likes slippers” ? “Pointless inertia guff” ?

One of us is well versed in Thundercade. A shmup. A very good shmup. The best shmup. I don’t know of a better shmup, do you? I mean, really. It’s a shmup. God save the shmup. The other has been away. A long way away. Probably a lot of miles. To the best place. Have you seen the donuts over there? I like donuts. Who doesn’t? God save the donuts. What were we doing again?

No Victor this week, so Shaun is joined by The Taggsta and Daz Domination from ‘Stralia, and we have returned to the Fantasy Zone to shoot mammoths in the face. No sign of Opa Opa this time, just a guy with a gun on a mission to destroy. Fly like a really fast bird, or maybe a quick insect, all over the screen. Don’t run into owt or you may die. Peace.

Oh my lord – this one is a big ‘un. Literally, an 800lb gorilla in the room! Barrels, fireballs, ladders, girders, apes! What more could one want from a single arcade game from 1981? We were also present at the Cambridge History of Computing Arcade Experience and it was AWESOME. Welcome to the Fantasy Zone – get ready! For this show we delve into the multi-coloured eye-bleed world of Opa-Opa (so good they named him twice). This game plays a tad like Defender – but is it better? No. In fact, is it better than anything at all? Join us and find out.

I could use this bumf at the start to subliminally recruit my evil horde of biscuit thieves, seeing as no one cares about what I write here. STEAL LOADS OF HOBNOBS AND SEND THEM TO VICTOR AND SHAUN. But don’t tell anyone we told you to do so. Oh and play some arcade games, there’s a good chap / chapess.

Meoww! Cat paws, fish and magical balls are all in the podcast this time around! Shaun and Victor have been away for the weekend at the Revival Retro Event in Walsall, somewhere in the middle of the UK. Bonus SkyCurser Pre Production review after it’s UK debut at The Revival retro Event.

This is a slightly different podcast recording – we did it together at chez Victor, had a walkround of the garage arcade and did the rest of it in a Swedish airport! Live walkround (well, we were alive) at Hey Stockholm as well as most of the usual stuff. Many thanks to Peter Koskimaki for making the Stockholm trip happen.

Busty, busty, busty – we’ve all been busty. Hold on –  BUSY. We’ve been BUSY playing arcade games and writing about them, then yapping about them. Oh joy! This time around we’ve been in the garden and been blasting pesky centipedes with our disembodied head, while watching out for 8 legged mother flubbers. Diagonal poopers! Spin that trackball and listen to the ten pence arcade.

We’ve been tasked with rescuing our tiny Kiwi friends from an evil walrus! No, we’ve not been hallucinating – we’ve been playing The New Zealand Story from those crazy dudes at Taito. Flying about on balloons and magical geese while lobbing bombs at mean teddy bears and er, spiky things. Lots of spiky things. Too many spiky things perhaps. Take one hero out of a posse of 4 and rescue the prisoners! This hero is a bit stabby & shooty though! It’s all good clean pixelly arty fun with over the top action and some MASSIVE GUNS, and, er slugs? We’ve had a month ‘off’ of arcades* and we’re raring to get back into it!
