Teaching Missions: Growing in God’s Grace

Jesus healed a blind and dumb man. The Pharisees attribute his power to Satan. 

He heals a man; this demonstrates the truth of the suffering servant passages in Isaiah.

The Pharisees challenge Jesus about healing on the sabbath. He says that a man would lift a sheep out of a pit on the sabbath; a man is worth more than a sheep. He then heals the man's hand

The Pharisees accuse the disciples of breaking the sabbath by plucking grain. Jesus defends them with two Biblical examples

We are free to serve Christ, not our old sin-nature

We are called to cast our burdens on Christ and work together yoked with Him. His manner is meek, and his burden is light

They thought John the Baptist was demonically controlled and tooascetic; Jesus was a man who enjoyed food and drink too much. But if the O.T. cities had seen what Jesus did in Galilea, they would have repented long ago.

John in prison questions about Jesus as the messiah. Jesus demonstrates his power and praises John the Baptist. 

Don't seek temporary pleasure but eternal rewards from Christ for serving Him

Jesus gives them warnings about persecution and leaving one location for another

Jesus gives initial instructions to the 12 disciples going out to minister in Israel

Jesus shows compassion to the lost of Israel and sends out his 12 disciples, here named, to minister to them

When we receive Christ as savior, we are justified (declared righteous). The Holy Spirit comes to live in us and gives us the power to live a godly life showing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

Jesus healed 2 blind men followed by a man who was unable to speak. But the Pharisees attriobuted the healing to working together with Satan

En route to healing Jairus' daughter, Jesus healed a woman with 12 years of vaginal bleeding who trusted in him. He removed all the men from the house, took Peter, James and John and the parents and raised the daughter from the dead. 

Jesus called Matthew who immediately folloowed him. Matthew calls his friends and eats with Jesus and his disciples.

Jesus heals a paralytic let down through the roof. He forgave sins and proved it by having him stand and walk home

Demons recognize Jesus and are terrified; he permits their request to go into pigs, who all die in water. 

Jesus calms a storm and tells his disciples to believe and trust him

Two men offered to follow Jesus, but not immediately  with their hard hearts. Jesus moved on without them after giving them the need of total commitment

The Old Testament brought concemnation and death because it showed the will of God but did not give the individual the ability to keep the law of God. The Old Testament was glorious, and even Moses' face glowed after meeting with God. But that glory faded away and he covered his face with a veil. Jesus healed all sorts of sickness and demonic affliction

A Roman centurion asked Jesus for healing, but when Jesus said that he would come to heal the servant who was sick, the centurion said that he could just say the word and the man would be healed. Jesus wodered at his faith, which was greater than anyone in Israel, and said that some gentiles would join the patriarchs in the kingdom of heaven.
