Peter and Webby are STILL talking about the Eucharist. I guess they are just like the rest of the church at large. In this episode they chat more about what early church father, Irenaeus may have meant in his writings about Gnosticism.

Peter and Webby take some time to speak more personally around the Eucharist tonight. Each share some of their perspectives and feelings around where they each are in their faith journey at the moment. Is Jesus substantially present in the Eucharist? Is He only Spiritually present and if so what does that mean? How would the Eucharist and Transubstantiation even work? How can Jesus be more or less...

Peter takes some time to walk through some of what we know about early church writings around the Eucharist.

Peter and Webby jump into a conversation around how to decide what is metaphorical and what is literal when it comes to the words that Jesus spoke, Especially around the passage in John chapter 6.

Webby is going out of town so we got together to just have a little chat about faith. It ended up going much deeper than expected and was a great conversation.

The discussion around the "real presence" in the Eucharist continues with this side quest around Jesus' authority over and obligation to the law.

This one is kind of a tough discussion for Webby. It seems ultimately obvious that Jesus does appear to changed the law, but is that the same thing as abolishing it? If so, why did Jesus say specifically that he wasn't doing that. Ptony and Webby continue the conversation.

Peter brings an interesting topic, that Jesus kinda did abolish the law. What???

Ptony and Webby continue to discuss if the apostles would have believed that the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ was present in the Eucharist (Communion) Could they have believed that if it isn't acceptable for Christians to consume blood?

Ptony brings some notes on 1 Cor 11: 23-26 in order to facilitate a conversation on if the Apostles also believed that the Bread and Wine in communion was also the physical body of Christ.

Webby asked for receipts of the early church actually believing in the "true presence" of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Peter brought some. Webby also brought some. Lots to talk about in this TWO HOUR episode.

Peter and Webby FINALLY complete the Didache. In normal fashion it brings on some great conversations. This time involving a little bit of church authority and the Eucharist.

The Didache is continuing to provoke deep and interesting conversations between Peter and Webby. In this episode we read through Chapters 13 and 14 and that brought us into some great conversations around communion.

Peter and Webby start off in the Didache and quickly launch into two conversations. The first over Prophets and Prophecy; the second over Idols. We invite you to take part in the conversation in this 2 hour long episode.

Peter and Webby are still walking through the Didache, prompting more discussions around the way one should fast, if praying "repetitious" prayers is something that is reasonable or acceptable, and how all those things play out practically in the faiths of Evangelicals and Catholics.

Peter and Webby, in common fashion, started reading the section of the Didache that discusses baptism. Of course being a "Catholic" and a "Baptist" respectively meant they had to talk about things like salvation beginning with baptism, believers baptism, and infant baptism.

We started reading more of the Didache, and in classic fashion for us... We dove deeper into some more conversations. The chats were great tho! We got to chat about wheither the Didache could possibly give some support for invocation of the saints. Later we discussed if the Deuterocanan and the Magisterium are "Adding to or Taking away" from scripture.

Peter and I begin reading and discussing The Didache. It didn't take us long until we got pulled into a tangent about Mortal and Venial sins. This is the first time we really couldn't come to the same place in our believes, but is a topic that we will definitely cover again in the future. Yes we are still friends 😅

It's important to have a baseline of where we are starting and tonight it was Peter's turn. Peter takes a moment to start a primer about some common practices and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church.
