More madness from H.P. Lovecraft. This time the Gardners' farm went from being colorful but bitter, to grey and decaying... or rather necrotic. And luminescent. And Ammi had to do and see some terrible things in pursuit of being a good person.

Today I read aloud a collection of poems for hearts day. From Edgar Allen Poe, Lewis Carroll, and Arthur Macy.

We begin our first story today, written by the mother of science fiction: Mary W. Shelley. I appologize for the stuttering, I was outside in the wind, trying to hold my phone and my reading material at the same time. I'll do better next time. Today I read the folk song of "John Henry" for black history month. And the take away that while being better than the machine may make you famous, it's not worth killing yourself at work. We need money in this society, but we also need to live.

We finish the Invisible Man today with a chase through town and a rather somber end.

Chapter 27. The Invisible Man kills again, plots to "start" his reign of terror with a different death and upgrade to an ax murderer. Hopefully, Kemp can afford to replace all the glass in his house.

The race to the jade emperor's palace for a spot in the Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the rabbit (+ water element), the tortise/hare race between the ox and the rabbit.

I read the "We will overcome" speech by Martin Luther King Jr. I should have known it wouldn't be a mini-sode with a 20pg speech. But I tried. I blame my sinus infection for my inability to read his handwriting.

Sorry for the cold-induced darth-vader breathing. Chapter 23 reveals more of Griffin's terrible personality. He actually takes offense for being called a thief, when he quite literally assaulted someone and ransacked their house. We also learn how he got his costume. We hit the 1/2 way mark with chapters 21 & 22 of The Invisible Man. He continues to recount how he got into his current predicament to Dr. Kemp. Chapters 13-16. We come back to Mr. Marvel and, the still nameless, invisible Man. Mr. Marvel wants to leave the stranger and is threatened into continuing helping him. It's really just Mr. Marvel running scared and the Invisible Man continuing to be terrible and violent.
