Tackle and Tacos - A Fishing Podcast

Sports EN ↓ 157 episodes

We love fishing. We love tacos. That pretty much sums it up. We may not be the best anglers, but we may just be the best taco eaters on earth. Hosted by Nate, Lola and Jordan, we're gonna talk probably 75% fishing, 23% tacos and an undetermined amount of nonsense. One thing we can promise; this won't be just another fishing podcast, and we won't be anything but real. The show won't be edited, and we will indeed be having more fun than we should be allowed to! Proud to be apart of the Working Class Bowhunter Podcast network, new episodes will drop every Taco Tuesday.

Episode 31 - Carlos of Guac N Roll Mexican Restaurant 14.11.2023

From the very beginning of this show, Nate, Jordan and Lola wanted to have a Taco Expert on the show. This more than fits the bill. A couple months back, Jordan, Lola and the whole fam went to a restaurant called Guac N Roll in downtown Eau Claire, WI. They literally only went because it was close to where they were and they were operating on a tight time table. Turns out the food was amazing, tac...

Episode 30 - Pete Maina - Jordan's Hero and a True Legend in Fishing 07.11.2023

So there's kind of a funny back story here. Jordan was legit obsessed with Pete when he was younger. When Jordan was younger that is, which I guess meant Pete was too, but I digress. Anywhoo Jordan took a photo with Pete WAY back in the day, the nineties, and tagged Pete on it just a few months ago. Pete liked it, Lola (Jordan's Wife) took the chance to ask Pete to be on the podcast! HE SAID YES!...

He has this sorta unassuming way about him that you can'...

Brian runs a really successful and steady growing YouTube channel called "Angling Anarchy" where he records the anarchy that...

Episode 27 - UNDERLOVED - 3 Tacos and 3 Bass Fishing Techniques That Should Be More Popular 17.10.2023

Episode 27! What a cool ride it's been thus far! On this Taco Tuesday Nate, Jordan and Lola take time to shed light on 3 specific taco styles and 3 specific bass fishing techniques that should probably get a lot more love than they do! So, we're calling the 'sode - UNDERLOVED. We say this on the recording a few times but if you're unsure of the tacos or lures or whatever we're talking about, just...

Episode 25 - Practical Fishing Tips & Two Restaurant Reviews 03.10.2023

Nate, Jordan and Lola all sit down and basically just chat in this week's episode. We, like always, talk fishing and talk tacos. One of the first things we thought of when we decided to do a podcast with the word "tacos" in the title was to do restaurant reviews. So we finally did it. Nate recaps his experience eating some tacos from a food truck in Iowa and Lola and Jordan talk about a new Mexica...

Episode 24 - Deer Stuff #1 with Curt Geier of Working Class Bowhunter 26.09.2023

Well it's about G D time, eh? Curt is a close friend with everyone on this show so it makes sense, being this calendar-close to everyone kicking off deer archery season, that we have the dude on. This is our first ever, and who knows maybe last ever, "DEER STUFF" episode. We are aware that we are a fishing and a taco podcast, but we all deer hunt and will venture to guess that a lot of you do the...

Episode 23 - The Death of our '23 Tournament Season / Lotsa Taco Talk 19.09.2023

Well, that was fun. 2023, as far as Bass Derby fishing, is over for us. We may jump into a couple random ones, but as far as the stuff we had on the schedule, we done. Have we learned anything at all? Have we grown? Did we have fun? Is all fishing actually fun fishing as we say? Highs and Lows. All of it. We are going to walk through it on this episode. Also, for the first episode in a few, we act...

Episode 22 - The Lenfants are Back, and Lola catches 3 PB's in One Day! 12.09.2023

Here we are with the 22nd installment of Tackle and Tacos and we're already repeating guests. There is a good reason for it though! The Lenfants are here. Marc and Easton, father and son, are great anglers, good friends, YouTubers, they fish a lot of tournaments, plus they also really like tacos. So maybe they'll just have to be regulars on the show! We did shift gears and get a little serious whi...

Episode 21 - Luke Dunkin - Being Really Real, Music as a #1 Passion and the Desire to be a Chef 06.09.2023

Luke Dunkin is one of the more recognizable names / faces / voices in bass fishing. Be that from his years as a pro, his announcing on the NPFL, or his super successful video and audio podcast. Or perhaps it's because he's never been one to steer away from controversy. From our perspective, his affinity for controversy is more so just an honest dude sorta calling it how he sees it and a lot of peo...

Episode 20 - Before and After From Lac du Flambeau w/ special guests the Lenfants 29.08.2023

Another before and after episode. These are special podcasts where we record before a bass tournament, give our thoughts and predictions, then record again immediately after the derby. This one is a bit different in a few ways: 1 - we record two thirds of it on location in Woodruff, WI. 2 - this is actually a before and after and after as its before and then two afters since it's a two day tournam...

Episode 19 - Collin Tweten - Marine Carnage, Fish Tacos, Fishing Derbies & Drop Tine Bucks 22.08.2023

He decided to run a skinny part of the river to access a new spot that...

Episode 17 - How to Figure Out New Water 08.08.2023

Every angler has been there; on a new body of water, or going to a new body of water and feeling a bit unsure because you've never been on it, never fished it. This applies to fun fishing, going out with the kiddos, prefishing for a tournament or actually fishing a derby. The most basic and necessary question looms - How do I figure out this body of water? It could be a stream, a river, a lake and...

Episode 16 - Cameron Dowd - Catfishing, Tacos, and a Recap of Nate's Spro Derby 01.08.2023

We always wanted our podcast to be more than bass fishing. Make no mistake, we love bass and it's what we know best, but there is something really fun and really cool about learning new stuff! We were told that Cameron would make a great guest from our buddy Curtis and he was right! This dude is humble, articulate, used to bass fish a ton, has a rad Mexican wife that makes bomb tacos, and has caug...

Bite Size # 1 - Jordan Learns a Life Lesson at Wal-Mart 30.07.2023

The first ever Bite Size is here. Basically it's just a solo short podcast by one of the three hosts. In this case, it's Jordan sharing a little story from Wal Mart. Not usually the place one would look to positively adjust their life view, but that's just what happened here. SIDENOTE - WE HAVE SO MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT FOR ALL OUR ACTIVE MILITARY AND VETS. THANK YOU! Learn more about your ad choic...

Episode 15 - General Nonsense Talking and We Made a Listener Submitted Taco Recipe! 25.07.2023

Here are the topics we touch on today in no particular order camping with kids Nate prepping to fish a frog only tournament Jordan fished a derby on the river positivity bowhunting excitement a Mexican restaurant in Hayward WI and for the first time ever, we too...

Episode 14 - Before and After #2 - Two Bass Tournaments 18.07.2023

This is only the second time we've done a BEFORE AND AFTER podcast. The premise is simple - record a show right before a derby, talk about the prep and practice and make predictions, then podcast immediately after the tournament and recap how it went. Then we roll it all together into one big podcast! The questions we ask before the tournament are - Will you have 5 fish in the well, what will your...

Episode 13 - How To Lose a Bass Tournament 11.07.2023

Look here man, you gotta stick with what you know! We know how to fish tournaments, we know how to launch our boats, we know how to burn through gas running around the lake, and we know how to lose! All jokes aside, this episode is really just our thoughts on how to win a derby, but in reverse. There are some practical ideas here, some sorta mental stuff, and a few things in-between. THINGS DISCUS...

Episode 12 - The Lure You Have To Be Throwing Right Now - Frog Fishin' 06.07.2023

We have always wanted to do a lure or presentation specific episode. So being what time of year it is, Nate suggested frogs. "Let's do a whole episode on frogs!" And here we are. Please understand that we are NOT pretending to be experts or act like we know all there is to know about fishing with frogs, these are simply stories and tips and things we've run across in our fishing lives using frogs....

Episode 11 - Halfway Through 2023 - What have we learned? 27.06.2023

This is what our buddies at Working Class Bowhunter would call a BS session. In this, our 11th episode, we just kinda look back on 2023 at the midway point and discuss what we've learned. As a podcast, as Taco lovers, as anglers, as humans. Sadly this episode is missing Lola as she wasn't feeling too well so it's just Nate and ol' Jordy. Positivity, Tajin, gross taco shells, fixing stuff, stupid t...

Epsiode 10 - Steve Jonesi Musky Fishing Legend Talks Fish, Tacos and Life 20.06.2023

This week we finally strayed away from bass fishing to talk some fish with teeth! They say Musky are the fish of 10,000 casts, and while that may be true, we turn to a man on the podcast who has probably caught 10,000 of them; Steve Jonesi. Those in the Musky world know this man well. And there's a reason why - he knows Muskellunge. He knows them well, he spends so much time chasing them that he k...

Episode 9 - Brandon Palaniuk - A Real Life Conversation with the 2x Bassmaster Angler of the Year 13.06.2023

This is one of the most real life, honest, fun, competitive, intelligent dudes you will listen to. Brandon Palaniuk is a lot more than a fisherman, and this interview really shows it. One thing we are proud of around here at Tackle and Tacos is how different of an angle we take when talking to people. There are a ton of great fishing podcasts that do a superb job of diving into the length of the t...
