syndae Podcast

It's already the second week into the new year. It seems to become an interesting one, with many changes ahead. Running websites, for example, urges you to update the systems once in a while. So just happened with syndae home. Not only tiny changes in its look but the whole technology was renewed. Same will happen to other pages I run. Also, the German empulsiv Webzine closed down end of last year...

What will it bring, this new year 2023? Is it really new or just an echo of the past one? 2022 was a desaster for EM fans and it ended no good with the passing of Steve Smith and Edward Artemyev. May the rest in peace. So, hopes are up for another 365 day rotation. And I wish you all only the best of the best. It does start really good with a number of live concerts due in January and March. And t...

Now, it's that time of year where many people feel the urge to group around trees or candles and try to be kind to each other. I hope for everybody out there to find some time to peace out and having people around who are kind, helpful, loving. Anybody deserves to be safe and to live in peace. Tonight's edition presents new and recent music that I think does give a bit of peace of mind and soul to...

This year seems to be a sad one for electronic music lovers. As many of you will already have heard, Manuel Goettsching passed away at the beginning of this month. I've seen him live on stage several times, and especially remember when he got the Schallwelle Award in 2009. As Ashra, they played a concert that evening as well, and it was mesmerizing. Tonight's edition is kind of a tribute to him an...

What is fate? Is it escapable? Well, I don't believe in a global concept of fate that defines one's life like a storyboard for a movie. But sometimes it seems that fate gets hold of you and changes the way you planned your own future. It's not a religious thing, but events providing means to change your perspective on things and what should be in store next for you. One usually assigns negative th...

What happens in billions of years? Did you ever think about it? Probably not. But some scientists did and set up a timeline for a probable future. It's about planets and suns shattering and vanish, about the Galaxy ripping apart, about star systems colliding, merging, disappearing. And about the end of everything, even time. No human will ever experience any of it. And, well, if any being does, th...

Black Week, Cyber Week, Black Friday. Are you getting swamped by all the "cheapest ever" offers as well? Luckily, this year there is nothing on sale that I need. Not that I would need anything specific. What about you? Are you looking out for some special deal? Let me know in the comments. So am I lucky to not want anything? I read several articles on "deals", which are nothing but labeling existi...

What's up guys? I hope you are all feeling good, and if not, tonight's edition might help with that. As always, this is an hour well wasted relishing chilling and relaxing sounds from many talented artists and countries. And this is what I like alot when presenting ambient and electronic music: it brings together all of you listeners to enjoy some time in sound and scapes. At least virtually that...

Are you on twitter? Do you follow syndae on there? Or eventually me? This twitter show is on every news channel online and it seems to be complete chaos currently. Someone already said, this is done on purpose to make twitter less significant as a social medium. Everyone running off to the Fediverse now? Well, I am not sure. I set up my own fediverse server though, just in case. Always nice to hav...

Do you tweet? I just wonder what will happen to the blue bird social media channel now that the chief is in power. And I am reading about many people moving over to Mastodon (or Fediverse). Is that really an alternative? Well, I will surely try it out, in the end, I am a computer guy and like such stuff. Remembering back (yeah, I am old) I started with IRC to exchange with others. Back, when there...

So, the past three weeks I took some time off of my mind, less social media, less internet, and less music. Actually focusing on just letting my mind drift and read some books (5.3 novels of various authors actually, still have to finish the 6th). But it is also great to be back and cherrypicking from the fine releases that landed on my plate recently. And here we are with some of those fine album...

So I am enjoying some time off from my daily routine. Only, my love for music always remains. And especially, when it comes to the kind of music that is rooted in the Golden Age of traditional electronic music. There are several artists from back then still active and creating great new tracks (or revisiting their back catalog). And there are quite a number of younger artists inheriting from the o...

Tonight's edition is kind of self implying. It's focus is on a compilation themed for these changing times, which have pushing and challenging sides close to each other. After last weeks challanging edition, this time it's the more positive realm, as my track was chosing to be part of said compilation. I am very happy, as there are quite a number of fine tracks on the album. But, of course, there...

So, I had to cancel my vacation. Just the day before, my dear brother passed away. He only got 49. The previous show was recorded before I knew, but I did not want to cancel it. So here we go. The aftermath of this tragic loss. His music was very much different from mine. Punk. Heavy Metal. Nothing that fits to me or my feelings. Tonight's edition is still dedicated to him, with a selection of mus...

Once in a long while I take on submissions on syndae that do not really fit to the Ambient or electronic Music focus. Well, I have had Synthwave on before, and tonight it is Synthpop. With lyrics! Yeah, I know. But all in all they do have a similar root in electronic and synthesizer based music, so it is a bit of a stretch but in my opinion change is good. So tonight you will get something complet...

Well, sometimes, life gets between plan and reality. So it happened as we mourn another tragic loss to the electronic music world with Mark Shreeve. Yet another broken key in the realm, which I dedicate tonight's edition to with music by Redshift (Turning Towards Us), Abdicant (In-Group), Tonal Assembly (Four Pieces For Sonic Solitude), Colin Rayment (Equilibrium), Spectral Tune (Perspectivia), Iv...

So I am watching this asian show lately. I was expecting a series with some martial arts combined with magic, which sounded just like a good watch. Well, it turns out rather to be a soap opera with touches of fantasy. It's not too bad. it contains some nice character development, funny characters, and other nice elements. What really annoys me, though, is the absolute cheesy music. Especially in "...

When I started syndae in 2008, I was quite "limited" to music I knew from my closer friends and the local community on electronic music. Only in early 2009 the first track from some kind of online label named kahvi found its way to my ears. It was Mikael Fyrek's A Thousand Years and One. Since that time, I regularily searched and picked music from so called netlabels, where great musical treasures...

What a sweatful week. Not only were the temperatures on a high again, and for this my home office not having air condition really sucks, but life also did some hot turns. Well, not complaining much, as most of it is consequently self inflicted. Anyway, all in all very good reasons to put on some music that cools you down. And luckily, there are plenty of great tracks that do the trick. Once more a...

So, we had a nice little club event last weekend and it was great to see some people live and in color again. I mentioned the live music being played in past editions, which was also nice to hear not only coming out of my headphones. And then there is the catering, of course, one of the main reasons to go to a grill party. But, no, it's mostly the people. And having the joy to talk about our favor...

The heat is back, literally, not only musically. And isolation at my home works quite wrong around: hot outside means hot inside and vice versa. Of course, the rooms do not cool down as fast as the outside, that would make thinks much easier. So, no good days for being in home office. Ice cream to the rescue? Well, no. For once, your body will produce heat when digesting such cold stuff and second...

Ok, this was kind of a terrifying week for me, so let's get into some nice and easy going music tonight. No, nothing dramatic happening to me, but it just felt that way. And, tell you what, listening to music has helped me quite a bit to get through. It did not matter what kind of music though, may it be even dark and terrifying on its own. Just keeping the mind busy with something else than darke...

Time for changing gears. Not so ambient tonight, but with a quite diverse selection of music to also tease you for two upcoming events here in Germany. You may visit one or the other or both to get the full potion of live music. It's not only music, of course, as these are rather parties than concerts only. But there is more on this show than only event announcements, as great new albums are comin...

Last week I promised it will get more serene and here we are. Going further into ambient sounds with this edition, but in no way boring I promise you that. Another week where I throw myself into relaxation mode listening to sounds that are soothing and not giving me any tickle to start moving any bone. Perfect for some tense days. How was your week? Well, ok, mine was not that bad and I am sure I...

My brain is currently really busy. At day time as well as at night. Which makes it also difficult to find some sleep. Hence, looking out for a way to sooze its acitivies once in a while by listening to ambient style music. Well, you know, I have plenty of those by a great number of also great artists. And tonight is the night to again share some of these fine tracks with you. If not being too sere...
