Cumberland Community Church
Sundays at Cumberland
We are a church family organizing our lives around one central desire -- to seek His face, so that we can give away His heart. We want to point each other to Jesus in everything we do. And we hope to be as much of an encouragement to you as you are to us! Our mission is to be redeemed messy people pointing other messy people to the gospel of Jesus, with a vision of redeeming individuals, families, our community and the world. Each Sunday, we explore more of who Jesus is and what that means for our life. Located just outside of Atlanta in Smyrna, GA. Visit us online at CumberlandChurch.org. In-...

Hidden Faults: Heart Disease 03.08.2025 40:09
Heart disease can sneak up on you. The signs are easy to dismiss, and as long as your heart keeps pumping, you're fine... right?? In the same way, you should consider the potential of BLOCKAGES in your *spiritual* life - hidden faults - that may affect the flow of God’s love to and from your heart.
A Call to Worship 27.07.2025 44:21
To bless or not to bless… That is the question. With all the things you need the Lord to *do* for you, do you forget to bless the Lord for what he's already *done* for you?
ICON: David 20.07.2025 41:46
There may be no other figure in scripture who points to Jesus quite like David. And while we admire things like his courage as a warrior, his openness in worship, and even his artistic ability - the bible clearly identifies his most admirable quality: The sincerity of his heart.
ICON: Moses 13.07.2025 32:46
Pharaoh was the most powerful man in the world, and no one could stand against him. That’s why God sent the most unlikely man to do the job... Moses’ story demonstrates the truth that the strength of this world is still no match for the weakness of God.
ICON: Abraham 06.07.2025 18:48
Abraham’s life gives a theological glimpse into the very framework of the gospel, long before it was ever proclaimed to the world. Esteemed as the Father of our faith, his example strips away any arguments we might hold concerning our own self justification. The reason is simple: Abraham chose to believe God. Against all odds, and perhaps, even, logic, he chose to order his life around trusting Go...

Is there such thing as being *too* merciful? Jonah certainly thought so...
The Purpose of God's Mercy 15.06.2025 34:43
God’s mercy is full of second chances. But have you ever considered just how important a second chance can be? Second chances are as important as the air we breathe. Without God giving us second chances (and third, and fourth…), we couldn’t survive! The problem is, we’ve become so accustomed to receiving second chances from God that we can feel entitled to them. We forget that it’s all a matter of...
The Depth of God's Mercy 08.06.2025 38:30
“Get me out of here!” What would YOU pray for if you ended up in the belly of a fish? Slim chance that’ll happen, but in this life, you’ll undoubtedly find yourself in a situation in which you’re praying to get out. And Jonah shows us an unlikely response when placed in an uncomfortable situation...
The Will to Have Mercy 01.06.2025 39:28
If God called you to show mercy, how would you respond? You might say, it depends… What if it's to someone who is evil, ungrateful, and manipulative… Would that sway your response? While few would see themselves responding like Jonah, you may have more in common than you think.

Today's Dreams are Tomorrow's Stories 18.05.2025 27:13
Today, we’re reminded by a familiar Biblical hero of a very important truth… God is the one who makes dreams come true! Simply put, today’s dreams are tomorrows stories.
Untold Stories of Motherhood 11.05.2025 39:30
We see evidence of God and His qualities all over creation, and motherhood is no exception. If we look closely, stories of motherhood can teach us about who God is and how His kingdom works. The sacrifice, fear, love, loss, and sorrow experienced on the journey of motherhood are instructive for our own walk with the Lord. Let’s investigate the untold story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and see how...
Tell It All! 04.05.2025 25:45
When you encounter the Living God, your story actually makes it *easier* to share the Good News of Jesus with those coming up behind you...
Tell My Story 27.04.2025 22:20
There’s nothing more remarkable in a fallen world than for creation to find harmony with its Creator. Evidence of God’s story can be found in everything, but it echoes loudest in the lives of people. This is the power of testimony, because it is a reminder that every individual story holds a significant place in God’s grand narrative. This placement holds no regard for worldly status, but instead...
True Story... You Are Forgiven! 20.04.2025 25:51
There’s really only ONE true story throughout history... Only one great narrative… Only one relevant drama... A tragedy and a triumph all rolled into one, through which all other stories find their meaning...
One Man's Story 13.04.2025 27:47
One thing’s certain - somebody deserves the blame. And how we handle this simple truth impacts the totality of our lives. We can trace our brokenness back to the failure of Adam, but unfortunately, finger-pointing brings no relief. In fact, an improper focus on the legacy of Adam simply dooms us all to repeat it. But there is hope - and it comes in response to admitting the truth about our tendenc...
The Stories We Believe 06.04.2025 37:20
What happens if you allow your life to be shaped by a story that’s not even true?
God works through the next gen 30.03.2025 27:09
Sometimes, as adults, we can be so focused on sharing God’s heart with our children that we don’t leave room for them to share God’s heart with us...
A Day Acceptable to the Lord 23.03.2025 29:57
There’s a final thought as it relates to consecration, and we must consider it as we offer ourselves to God… The prophet Isaiah challenges Judah concerning their religious offerings, exposing their blindspots concerning the true condition of their hearts. In the same way, we must be careful to not confuse our dedicated focus on God with a careless neglect of each other.
If We Pray 16.03.2025 25:20
As believers, we know that many things we face are simply beyond our ability to address them. But God’s Word reminds us that we are not without hope, even in the most dire circumstances. No matter what, we always have access to all that we need — IF we pray.
Pray Fight 09.03.2025 30:16
For believers, prayer should be common. But at times, it must be much more than just a casual conversation. When circumstances demand that we relate to God with more than words, we must bring our full selves to the table. Jacob’s encounter with God ( in Genesis 32 ) sounds extraordinary, but it reflects something that should be completely normal for us. It is the struggle of prayer that we so ofte...
Ask Again 02.03.2025 33:20
Does praying for the same thing repeatedly reflect faith, or doubt? If God heard my prayer the first time, then why do I need to ask again? It seems that God values our persistence in a way that’s difficult for us to understand. We tend to measure relationships against our own capacity to love, failing to realize that God has limitless capacity. He does not grow tired of our dependence on Him. In...
A Nondisclosure Agreement 23.02.2025 30:06
So much of our faith expression involves a public witness. We’re meant to live as an example… proclaim the gospel… share our testimony... We are to live outward so that others may see our good deeds and give glory to God. But what’s to be said of our private relationship with the Lord? More importantly, what’s the significance of a private conversation with Him? Certainly, there are things that we...
The Priority of Prayer 16.02.2025 33:43
We talk about our problems to friends, family, coworkers, counselors… you name it. It’s valuable to release your burdens and share them with others. In fact, sometimes, we even discuss our problems with ourselves! We process… and reflect… and then overwhelm ourselves with concerns that we can never resolve on our own. This is called WORRY. And worry is a sign that you should be having a conversati...
