Today we read from Luke 8.26-39, as Jesus casts out a demon from a man possessed. Just as the demons that possessed the man believed that Jesus had no business with Him, we, too, must come to understand that Jesus has everything to do with us and our lives, especially when our sins tells us He doesn't.

On this Trinity Sunday, we saw the presence of God in the lives of the Israelites from Exodus 19.1-6. The Lord said to them, "and I brought you to myself." Come, Holy Spirit! It's Pentecost Sunday and we're honoring our confirmands on their beautiful journey to faith. Pastor Whit preached on Acts 2 and how the Holy Spirit filled the believers, enabling them to speak the gospel message for all to hear. God desires to use each of us, too, by filling us with His Spirit and equipping us to preach the good news to the world!

Today we learned from Revelation 21.1-8 that God will repurpose heaven and earth for His glory! Amidst the war of sin within you, that seeks to cause rot and decay in your relationship with God, there is still life and material for God to use. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ!

We learned this Sunday that Psalm 23 is more than a prayer for a moment, but is more of a prayer of momentum. It is a psalm for living—a daily encouragement to praise the Good Shepherd who calls us to be the people of His pasture (Psalm 95.6-7)!

Be reminded today that the shadow of the cross looms over sin and death, reminding us that their hold on us is useless because of the victory of Jesus!

Pastor Whit challenged us today with doing the Lord's work the Lord's way, "casting our nets" to where He directs, the same as Jesus did for the disciples in John 21. May we be faithful so that we can be fruitful.

We learned today that Easter isn't a holiday that we pack up at the end of its celebration day and put it on a shelf for next year. Easter is a constant state of celebration and understanding. The Disciples in Acts 5.27-32 were commanded and compelled to obey God and witness to these things. The cross was never intended for us to misuse by taking advantage of it. The cross frees us to be faithful. May we honor God through the gift of the cross!

The crucifixion of Jesus dashed the hopes of many, until He rose from the dead and showed that bad Friday afternoon to be a Good Friday indeed.

We closed our series "Truly Alive!" with the raising of Lazarus. But we were challenged not to miss salvation for the miracle. Lazarus was raised so that we may believe, bringing glory to God by glorifying Jesus. May we all truly live, being truly alive by the power of God!

It's the people who want more Jesus who are sent to tell others about Jesus so that others can call upon Jesus and be saved.

Week 4 of our series "Truly Alive!" taught us that the cross is God's response to the brokenness in the world. When asked, "Where is God in all of this?" the Christian answers, "On the cross!" Pastor Whit challenged us to push forward in the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus' garment, like the bleeding woman who suffered for 12 years. Though we may be frail, God has put a great treasure within us that is all but weak. Let us depend on the treasure of His Spirit today!

We continue our series on "Truly Alive!" with Jesus' compassion for the widow who's lost her son. Just as Jesus stopped the funeral to raise the man and give him back to his mother, so Jesus stops sin to raise up hope and restore us to God and one another. Resurrection here is a kind of restoration that puts things back where they need to be in order for people to be truly alive.
