Play Pretend is the moment taking too long on a selfie gives way to existential crisis. Where the gadgetry of modern life falls away to reveal a longing for something real. Where toy pianos and casio beats give way to slicing synths and marching bands. And where panic attacks lead to undeniable hooks. A song for my lil baby homie. https://SummerDregs.com Paul and Carl were working in the studio. Myra, Paul's daughter was there, too. At one point Paul started singing and rhyming Myra's name to keep her quiet while he came up with melodies. What came out was so fun and funny we HAD to use it. Video: https://youtu.be/l2zNvJXtIqk In which Summer Dregs injects some of the undeniable energy and vibe that is Kindora back into her own song. What emerged is a bonkers, funhouse-mirror version of the original. A rainbow buffet full of roiling snares, funk guitar, oversaturated bubble-synths, hyperactive beat boxing and slap bass. So enjoy this like you would any cartoon with a dark underbelly o...

https://SummerDregs.com What to do when in a relationship with a body that’s gone cold? When your S.O. can only approximate human emotion? When your relationship is in the uncanny valley? Body Language explores the murky depths of this emotional state via bone-crack snares, vocal yelps and bracing lyrics. The portrait of Carl by Travis Knight reflects the tangled beats, glowing synths and emotiona...

https://summerdregs.com Wherein three CHA heavyweights take R&B jam "Heaven on Earth" to ecstatic new heights. All three musicians (and Flock House affiliates) push and stretch each other in new directions. Swayyvo takes a break from spitting fire to show off his angelic falsetto. Johnny Balik luxuriates in his own virtuosic croon. Underpinning it all is Summer Dregs, who brings his most sumptuous...

Summer Dregs turns Johnny Smathers' exquisitely post-breakup melancholy into a freewheeling and woozy party. Sometimes you gotta get lost in the music (and smoke) to numb the pain, at least for one night. Featuring drums and bass of premier CHA jazzers Jim Crumble and Given Arnold. https://summerdregs.com Original: https://soundcloud.com/johnnysmathers/your-own-supply Song by Johnny Smathers and C...

Sometimes all it takes is a random text from an old friend to remind us of how the passage of time can take its toll. On relationships, friendships, ourselves. And when that happens, sometimes the only choice is to dance it out. http://birdswithfleas.com https://summerdregs.com Original Song: Birds With Fleas Remix: Carl Cadwell (Summer Dregs) Drums: Josh Green Guitar: Andrew Hobbs Release Date: S...
