Storyline Church - Arvada

This past Sunday, Pastor JT showed us the purpose of communion in Matthew 26. The sacrament calls us to remember what Christ has done, bringing assurance. But it also builds anticipation as we rehearse the day we will share a meal with our Savior in His kingdom come.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT began a new series on “Why It Matters,” starting with baptism. In Matthew 28, we see that Christians are called to both share the gospel through evangelism and show the gospel through baptism. In baptism, we show that we have been cleansed and forgiven, have the Holy Spirit, have died to sin, have new life, and are clothed in Christ.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT showed us the kind of family we are from Romans 16. In Christ, we are a family of both diversity and unity. Essentializing either leads to division or uniformity, but recognizing both leads to building up and unity in our allegiance to the one King.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT called us to be “all in” as Paul is in Romans 15. Our lives should be marked by radical generosity and radical prayer, leveraging what we’ve been given for the gospel mission.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT encouraged us from Romans 15. We see that God takes unlikely people to reach unlikely people. As servants of the gospel, we accomplish our mission by relying entirely on the power of God.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT continued in Romans 14, calling us to walk according to love. In nonessentials, rather than judge, we should pursue peace. Let us not be a people that wins the argument, but loses the person.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT reminded us that we get one sound, so let it be the gospel. Romans 14 calls us to be unified in that gospel and free in nonessentials, treating each other with charity in all things.

This past Sunday, Adam Wiggins encouraged us to respond to what we believe. Because we believe the gospel is true, Romans 13 tells us to love others, live with urgency, and pursue the good life that is in Christ.

Pastor JT reminds us from Romans 13 where our allegiance should lie. We can submit to the governing authorities because they are God’s servant for our good. Yet as we submit, we know they are not God - our allegiance is ultimately to King Jesus.

Pastor JT shows us that Romans 12 invites us into a new way of living because God loves us, not so that God will love us. As his church, we should have a fragrance of love and trusting God with all things.

Pastor JT walked us through 1 Timothy 4:6-10, reminding us that we are always being formed by something. Setting up gospel rhythms rather than resolutions helps us train, labor, and strive intentionally toward godliness.

Adam Wiggins walked us through Philippians 2. As we reflect on starting a new year, we look to Jesus. This hope for all mankind affects how we look back and look ahead.

This Sunday, Pastor JT preached from Luke 1, reflecting on how Mary and Elizabeth modeled how to wait for the King. We too are waiting on the King and are called to witness about his first coming as we long for his second with patient urgency.

This past Sunday, Pastor JT continued our Advent series with the story of Hagar. Genesis 16 reminds us that God hears us, sees us, and comes to us in exile. Even in the wilderness, we have hope that the King is coming

Pastor JT began our Advent sermon series. Starting in Genesis, the promise has always been that the King is coming, our hope for salvation and restoration. And now, the King has come and the King is coming back. Is that where your hope lies?

In Romans 9, Pastor JT shows how God is more merciful than we could ever imagine. God’s children are not determined by lineage or merit, but by being in Christ alone.  

This past Sunday, Pastor JT preach through Romans 8, in which we were reminded of God‘s faithfulness. But God‘s past faithfulness does not remove our present suffering. Yet in this, we can eagerly wait for our future hope with patience because we know Who we are waiting on.
