Stop To Think

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about shame and how it is the guardrail of societies. Our culture has gotten away from shaming people because it is "mean". Unfortunately, there are some consequences to us doing this and they're probably worse than hurting some feelings here and there to keep everyone in line. Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about why you have to work. A lot of stupid people on the internet don’t understand how the world works. Specifically, they seem to miss the fact that resources are finite. Economics is the study of the production, consumption, and the transfer of wealth. When resources are finite, we need to decide who gets more resources...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about how insurance works. In the recent past, a lot of people have argued that criminals shouldn’t be treated harshly for their actions because the damage they cause is covered by insurance. Unfortunately, if the insurance has to pay for it, then everyone who has insurance ends up paying for it. We talk about it in this ep...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about beauty, purity, and character. These three facets are the key factors that make girls attractive to guys. Beauty is the most important because it’s required to cause a guy to initiate an interaction. Purity is the next most important because it will tank a relationship if it’s not present. Character is third because w...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about the diminishing returns curve with respect to thinking. One of the people I work with, we’ll call him “Steve”, thinks that thinking less is beneficial for one’s happiness. He’s more in favor of just going with your instinct which is accurate 85% of the time. I on the other hand think that thinking more is always bette...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about investing in and developing other people. Over the course of my life, I’ve had the opportunity to invest a decent amount of my time in developing other people. So far, no one I’ve had a hand in mentoring has flamed out so it seems like I might kind of know what I’m doing or something like that. This episode is centere...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we come back to the topic of evil once again. I just finished a book, “On Becoming a Person”, which presents the idea that people aren’t actually inherently bad. Instead, they’re usually just responding to circumstantial challenges. This obviously contradicts the original sin worldview that is presented in the Bible. In this episod...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we finally conclude talking about purity from a more secular standpoint. This episode focuses on getting to the bottom of what the story with purity is. It seems to more or less boil down to making sure that both parties aren’t getting taken advantage of. We also talk about some of the nasty things people do that just gives a perso...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we continue talking about purity from a more secular standpoint. This episode focuses on an evolutionary take on raising children. Specifically, how this relates to the seriousness of one sex cheating on the other. Female cheating is more of a betrayal than male cheating under the typical resource flow arrangement. Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about purity again. This time around, I go into my own personal experiences to a certain extent. One recommendation is to avoid dating for extended periods of time. Either get things figured out quickly or move on. Longer relationships increase the likelihood of diminishing purity and getting tangled up in sexual immorality...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about Sola Scriptura. The belief that scripture is the sole source of authority required for living the Christian life. Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we continue the evolved stupidity topic from last week. This episode focuses on the self-perpetuating requirement for both life forms and societies. Behavior that hinders self-perpetuation is behavior that’s detrimental for a society and usually labeled as bad. We also talk a bit about the “What would Jesus do?” framework. As well...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about agency mostly. Unsurprisingly, another Hoe_math video kicked this one off. These days everyone is always talking in terms of evolutionary theory. You hear a lot about how people act in a certain way in accordance with their evolved nature. Yet at the same time, we as humans claim that we’re capable of acting above our...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we continue to talk about the cost of OnlyFans. This episode gets into the problem of nudes. It’s always a bad idea to do anything you wouldn’t want on the front page of the local newspaper. Most people wouldn’t want their nudes on the front page of the local newspaper. So, it follows that you probably shouldn’t be sending nudes. T...

Episode Description: In this episode of the Stop To Think podcast, we talk about the cost of OnlyFans. Since we were talking about Christian purity culture last week, I figured we might as well talk about OF now because you see it all over the place. A shockingly large number of Instagram accounts have direct links to OF. It seems like a topic worth some discussion. Social Media: https://twitter...
