At the beginning of Lent we take a break from our series on the Psalms as Yong -Geun reflects upon Luke 4: 1-13, which describes Jesus temptations in the wilderness.

In today's sermon Sam focused upon Psalm 88, which is a challenging piece of scripture in that the author speaks of darkness, and unlike most other psalms, there seems to be no resolution at the end. However, the author is realistic about the challenges we face in life, and demonstrates endurance by the manner in which he still present with God.

In today's sermon Dan leads us through Psalm 73. Initially, the author is confused at how those who do not care for God seem to go through life without a care, which leads him to question why he should worship God. Dan explains how the author's perspective changes by the end of the Psalm.

In the first of our new series - Encounters with Jesus, Grace reflects upon Jesus' meeting with a leper from Mark 1.40-45. In contrast with the norms of the society of the time, Jesus shows compassion to the leper as well as anger towards the systems which dehumanised the vulnerable.

Major Steve Fripp concludes our series, which looks at historical figures from the Salvation Army alongside a passage from the Book of Acts, with a focus upon Samuel Logan Brengle.

Mark continues our series by foucsing upon Susannah Beatty, the first Salvationist martyr, alongside the story of Stephen, the firsr Christian martyr.

Lynn continues our new series with a focus upon William Booth. Intially he saw the role of Salvation Army as solely one of evangelisation, however. he changed his viewpoint to encompass campaigning for social reform to change the systems which kept the poorest in desperate conditions.

Sam begins our new preaching series which looks at key figures from the Salvation Army alongside a passage from the book of Acts which encapsulates what they were about. Today's focus is Catherine Booth, "Mother of the Salvation Army", and the passage is the Pentecost story, (Acts 2:1-10).

JD brings our series on "The Sermon on the Mount" to an end with a focus upon Matthew 7 24-29.

Claudia continues our series on "The Sermon on the Mount", by fosuing on Matthew 7 v21, a seemingly difficult verse in which Jesus states; "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who di the will of my father who is in heaven."
