Today we celebrate Stockholm Community Church's 5th Birthday, looking at the past, the present and dreaming of the future.

When putting a puzzle together, what is one of the first things you do? You look at the picture to know what you are creating. When understanding what church is, we should look at what the first church looked like. Acts 2 gives us the picture of the first church, a place where everyone was welcome, everyone was known, everyone was needed and everyone was changing.

Derek wraps up our series reminding us that God has made us for and created us to serve and the local church is where He intends for us to do that. While being a part of a local church, the Holy Spirit will be speaking to us, shaping us into the person He wants us to be.

The early church was in the middle of its first large conflict, Do we make people change before they can truly be a part? We look at how the early church leadership dealt with this question and examine the reality of where the church stands today.

The life of Jesus shows us our mission, introducing others to His love. To do that, we must be spending time with those that do not know Him, which may require us to lay aside our preconceived ideas or traditions.

Jesus calls Andrew, Simon, James and John to follow Him. As we dive into their story, we learn that Jesus rarely ask us to do something out of the blue, He spends time preparing us for what is coming and it is our responsibility to take advantage of that preparation.

The gospel of Mark brings us two theme, Jesus does everything with authority, He is the Son of God and Messiah. Jesus is also the Suffering Servant. Through these themes Mark wants his readers to understand the true cost of following Jesus and encourage us to chose Faith over Fear.
