Stapleford Baptist Church is a ‘family’ of people who aim to follow God’s commands as recorded in the Bible. We are Christians (followers of Jesus) who are seeking a relationship with the one true God, creator of all things, loving, and merciful. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus died on the cross, rose again and through his death and resurrection we can be saved. So, there is a warm welcome for you or anyone who visits us. We would love you to discover the God who found us and has made us His own! We meet on Albert Street, Stapleford, Nottingham, NG9 8DB, UK

January 11th 2026 - Press on for God's best, Judges 1-2v6 11.01.2026

Today we start our new series from the book of Judges - the initial successes of God's people are over. Will they keep going doing what God has called them to do? Or will they say, "too tough" and settle for less than God intends? To keep going after the initial enthusiasm wanes can be a slog, but God calls us to his work to achieve his goals. Will we keep going? https://www.facebook...

January 4th 2026 - Verse for the year, 2 Timothy 3 v16-17 04.01.2026

To set us up for the year to come, we want to take to heart this verse - God, by his own breath, has given us the bible ... and it's very useful in every conceivable way - in fact it's essential if we want to be the people he wants us to be. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist.org/

December 28th - Not one bit, Romans 7v14-8v4 28.12.2025

For our last Sunday service in 2025 we spend time thanking God for his care during the past year, and we marvel, again, that (despite all our failings, weaknesses and sin) he doesn't condemn us, not one bit! Check out Romans 7v14 - 8v4! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist.org/

December 21st - The Baby gets 2 names, Matthew 1v18-25 21.12.2025

Join in today! Sing along with some carols and hear again the great good news of Christmas - that God's own son has come to save us from evil - evil around us and evil inside us. Glory! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist.org/

December 14th 2025 - The Magi, Matthew 2v1-12 14.12.2025

"It's a plane! It's a bird! No! It's SuperStar!" ... probably not what the 'Wise Men' said when they saw the star announcing Jesus' birth but, to them, it was not ignorable. Whether they immediately jumped on a camel is speculation. But they definitely thought that taking a long and difficult journey across a desert was worth it, in order to worship Jesus. What is...

December 7th 2025 - Joseph, Matthew 1v18-25 07.12.2025

Today it's the turn of Joseph to be brought into the Christmas spotlight. What happens when he finds out that his fiancée is pregnant from someone else? People will either think he's immoral or a cuckold, won't they? Then what happens when he's forced by the government to go on a long journey, by foot, with his heavily pregnant wife? What happens when the king sets out to murder hi...

November 30th 2025 - Jesus' Genealogy, Matthew 1v1-17 30.11.2025

Following our look at the 5 women who appear in Christ's ancestry, today the men get their chance. And what a mixed lot they are - the good, the great, the bad, the infamous, the faceless unknowns ... and all of them with a place in God's plan to restore health and happiness to his world for ever. Are you another person with a place in God's plan? https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbap...

November 23rd - Mary, ancestor of Jesus, Matthew 1v12-16 & Luke 1v26-38 23.11.2025

At last, the 5th woman listed amongst the forbears of Jesus. Of course, it's Mary, his mother. What an incredible young woman! She's told by an angel that she's about to become pregnant with God's son ... and without an intimate relationship with a man. This isn't going to sound very believable at a time when the penalty for sex before marriage was stoning to death. What does s...

November 16th - Bathsheba, ancestor of Jesus, 2 Samuel Chapter 11 16.11.2025

Today, the fourth "foremother" of Jesus. An adulteress or an oppressed victim? Whoever she was, her life was a mess - and she can hardly have been in greater distress than when her first baby died soon after his birth. Yet God had a super-important role for her. Like he has for you and me? https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaV...

November 9th - Ruth, ancestor of Jesus, Ruth Chapter 1 09.11.2025

Here's the third "foremother" of Jesus at the beginning of the second part of the Bible - Ruth. You might even call her an asylum seeker. She's certainly from a nation that's kept at arms' length by the place she's intending to go. Can she be accepted? Listen in and find out! You may be surprised to find out that you and I share many similarities with her. https://www...

November 2nd - Rahab, ancestor of Jesus, Joshua 2 + 6 02.11.2025

After last week's look at the first person listed as a "foremother" of Jesus at the beginning of the second part of the Bible, today we have number 2 - Rahab. Last week we studied a woman who pretended to be a prostitute. Rahab is one. Why does God call out such women? Maybe for the same reason that he calls out you and me - because we need him. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbap...

October 26th - Tamar, ancestor of Jesus, Genesis 38 26.10.2025

Back to normal this week - Church is back home after the weekend away ... but who's this Tamar person - she hardly seems like a 'normal' person, yet Jesus himself was descended from her. Tamar is the first ancestor of Jesus we'll be looking at in the run-up to the Christmas season and none of the others seem exactly 'normal' either - maybe each of them is more like you and...

Church Weekend 2025 - Session 3 19.10.2025

Church is playing away today ... it's the annual Church Weekend, today based at Whitemoor Lakes next door to the National Arboretum. The sound quality there was not very good (sorry), but one thing was the same - a good look at God's word to find out what he's got to say to us - looking at the closing chapter of the Bible book of Ruth. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/...

Church Weekend 2025 - Session 2 19.10.2025

Church is playing away today ... it's the annual Church Weekend, today based at Whitemoor Lakes next door to the National Arboretum. The sound quality there was not very good (sorry), but one thing was the same - a good look at God's word to find out what he's got to say to us - looking at the closing chapter of the Bible book of Ruth. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/...

October 14th - Prayer, Exodus 19 v9-19 12.10.2025

This is the last key feature of the church that we're covering ... and there can hardly be a more important one: Prayer. What an astounding privilege to be able to talk to God, one-to-one. Something to do today! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist.org/

October 5th - Sung Worship, Psalm 96 05.10.2025

Some people sing in the shower. Football supporters sing at a match. You may sing along with a recorded song you're listening to. But going to a building to sing as a small crowd about a person who can't be seen - that's wierd isn't it? Why on earth do we do it - and enjoy doing it rather a lot! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8...

September 28th - Membership, Philippians 1v27 - 2v18 28.09.2025

The next "Marks of our Church", is membership. What is membership all about. Is it a bit like joining a club and paying a fee, or is it like taking out a Disney+ subscription? No, it's not like either of those! so what IS it like - watch and listen to find out. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staple...

September 21st - Elders, Ezekiel 34 21.09.2025

Continuing our series on 'The Marks of the Church", today we look at 'Elders'. They're a feature of our church. What are they there for? Some churches seem to get along fine without them ... so why do we have these guys when others don't? https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist....

September 14th - Studying & Sharing God's Word, Psalm 119 v97-112 14.09.2025

OK, back to 'The Marks of the Church" which we started in the spring. A mark of our church is the Bible and how we use it. We see what it's got to say, and we try and do what it says we should do, and we aim to pass on this understanding to others. Why? Because God had it written down and still speaks to anyone who reads it sincerely. Try it! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptist...

September 7th - Verse for 2025, Ephesians 2 v22 07.09.2025

As we start the Autumn programme, we want to ground ourselves in the Bible verse we've adopted for 2025. And we're going to hear what the Lord Jesus Christ thinks of his church - what he thinks of us! Listen in and maybe you'll discover a bit more about what he thinks of you! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http...

August 31st - Lost & Found, Luke 15 31.08.2025

Lost and Found / Finish and Start! For a while, we are finishing our series analyzing Dr Luke's account of the life of Jesus Christ. Today we've got 3 illustrations that Jesus gave to show how God starts people (who're lost) off to find him. https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCON8kZnw_hT-2eaVyUXWCww http://www.staplefordbaptist.org/

August 24th - The cost of being a disciple, Luke 14 v25-35 31.08.2025

Back to Dr Luke's account of Jesus and his disciples. Jesus calls us all to be his followers, his disciples, but he's very clear - the demands and challenges that will face any disciple are intense. Don't decide to be a Christian without first being very clear about what it will mean for you and your relationships. You'll be no use to Jesus if you don't. https://www.facebook.co...

August 17th - Chosen by God, Ephesians 1 v3-14 17.08.2025

A one-off Summer special today. Are you chosen by God? Are you choosing to follow God? Is God forcing your choice? And what's Paul, the writer of today's passage from the Bible, mean when he talks about people being predestined by God? Puzzling isn't it? But maybe a bit less puzzling after you've listened to this week's podcast! https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/...

August 10th - Jesus sets us free!, Luke 13 v22-35 15.08.2025

Last week we heard that those who are members of Jesus' kingdom aren't those who successfully do certain things. Instead, they are those who are renewed by God; those who repenting of their failures and trust Jesus. And that means, as this week's episode reveals, that many, many people will never become members of Jesus' kingdom. Their unwillingness to put their trust in Jesus will...

August 3rd - Jesus sets us free!, Luke 13 v10-21 03.08.2025

This week Luke's account of Jesus finds him laying into rule-keeping as the way to please God. Instead, he tells anyone bothered to hear that it's God changing people from the inside, setting the free from having to DO certain things but rather making them BE renewed. Do you want to be a new person as God works in you? https://www.facebook.com/staplefordbaptistchurch/ https://www.youtube.c...
