In the season of Epiphany, a time of illumination, revelation, seeing, we are focusing on discernment. Christine interviews Ruth Haley Barton who leads The Transforming Center in Chicago and author of "Pursuing God's Will Together: A Discernment Practice For Leadership Groups" about what discernment is, why it's important and how we can go about cultivating it in our lives and community.

Christine puts a stake in the ground at St. Peter's about discernment, "the increasing capacity to recognize and respond to the presence and activity of God, both in the ordinary moments and in the larger decisions of our lives" (Ruth Haley Barton), as the heart of discipleship and what it means to follow Jesus.

She invites us into soulful, whole-hearted worship and embodied solidarity that helps us claim this prophetic reality in the here and now. Lisha explores the both/and of the wilderness - a site of struggle and potential illumination. She reflects on the wilderness as a location for wrestling with all that's wrong with the world, a place to consider the why of our coming. She encourages us to connect with our desperate prayers.

Lisha offers God as the bedrock of our stewardship. We give because we love God and that giving is sourced from what we already have. Tune in as she filters todays readings through the memory of an important teaching and what she gleaned from a conversation between a US senator and a comedian.

Christine invites us to enter into this season of stewardship with prayerful reflection on God's abundance grace, sharing stories from her family of sowing and reaping, receiving and giving, from post-war Korea to immigrating to the U.S., and the multiplying of that grace through generosity and gratitude.
