Hyatt interviewed Drew Jackson in a rich, deeply moving conversation about the power of the written word and poetry’s unique capacity to help us “live the questions... that perhaps one day we might live into the answer"(Rilke). Drew shared his poems Ascension, Ambient Light and Tape Deck of the Universe.

Listen as Olugbemisola (Bemi) Rhuday-Perkovich contributes to our conversation on beauty as filtered through her writing practice and life as a maker.

Cellist Philip Sheegog filled our worship service with such beauty this week! He shared his earliest memories of beauty and their connection with loss; how the soulful, melancholy cello "found" him as a young person, giving voice to emotions he found difficult to express otherwise; and how music gives us the grace to hold us in our messy and complicated world.

Lisha shares about her journey with beauty through movement and the body, starting with the power of dance and encountering God in the dance studio; the limitations of the body in aging and infertility; and encouraging us to embrace the beauty and imperfetcions of our bodies as a place to meet God.

Christine kicks off our summer series, where we'll explore the spiritual practice of beauty, essential to human beings made in the image of God. Beauty is a form of resistance to the systems of dehumanization in our world, helping us to exercise the muscle of paying attention and remembering that there is more to our stories than sin, pain and death.

Our guest speaker Antonio Ingram, Assistant Counsel at the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund, brought a powerful word to our Juneteenth service, laying out a vision to follow the Way of Jesus as it flows from the Heart of Jesus. As we become what we behold, we will produce what we behold, the loving, liberating, life-giving Love of God in Christ in our world.

Christine, Caitlin and Ryan share the results of the "body scan" from the past month where we listened to parishioners share their thoughts, ideas and hopes for St. Peter's as we begin our strategic planning process. Last Sunday, we had the honor of hosting the Rev. Sam Owen, priest-in-charge of the Haitian Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan. He shared the story of the New York Haiti Project, a beautiful expression of love, liberation and life embodied in the midst of the political and social chaos and violence happening in Haiti. 

As we unpack the mission statement of the Jesus Movement Lisha explores love as our central command and theme. Are we willing to take the risk?
