That it is only in the company of Jesus that we discover the fullness of life, like Matthew, we can set at the feet of Jesus and listen to his wisdom.

Fr Naylor talks about how we should put our energy into our future; which is not based on the material things of this world but of that in Heaven.

Fr Naylor informs us that when Jesus died on the cross, it became a ladder to heaven, he chose not to make the cross our sentence and condemn us to death but instead that moment would be used to show God's mercy.

Fr Price discusses the cost of discipleship and how we have a counsellor in the Holy Spirt whom we should seek wisdom and guidance from.

Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant; he is limitless. Christ lives in us and we are made perfect by participation.

Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? Jesus asks his disciples. No, the cost of following Him will be hard and will set people against them.

All of us who have been adopted into God's family by Baptism have been granted a share in His glorious Kingdom. What does this mean for us? We stand on the shoulders of giants who have gone before us, and we are heading to an Eternal City. How should we live and grow?

The Scriptures we heard this week tell us how fragile this life and its possessions and achievements are. How can we find true and lasting treasure? What work can we devote ourselves to which will last?
